110 comments wow we blew the previous record by um almost a hundred

I think the MEEZ is occupying time for Candy. She has now started to multi task her bible teachings and blogging at the same time. I have a feeling she is being touched by our site. Her last three posts have been lame, and have occupied about four minutes of her time. I guess all that fake dancing is time consuming and tiring. Wow what a discussion we had to day, and I don't expect to end anytime soon. We have had a ton of new readers, and I have to think that credit goes to our friends at the Visit to Candyland website. Thank you guys so much. We all really appreciate it. I think we all had a pretty constructive conversation, and everyone had the opportunity to be read without moderation, editing, or deletions. What a refreshing change from the blessed home. I will be working on a new post for this weekend, based upon the damage that Candy's site does to other women that read and follow it. I think we have found that her followers are either so blind as to never being convinced or ever wanting to hear anything contrary to their beliefs, or we have found a couple of her readers that are actually intelligent and enjoyable to converse with (Mrs. Butler). Hopefully the traffic will keep up, and hopefully Candy will drop the MEEZ thing so we can get back to business. I will be researching and posting several things in days to come. I am going to find the Hall of fame, Mensa, ITU, and modeling quotes to post. I will also find some of the information about Erik's run for congress. Hopefully we can get Candy's attention, which who knows she could be one of the new guest, and have her on the site to actually have an open discussion.

I'll share my initial experience with Candy's website...like many other's I thought I'd found a really neat homemaking site....at first it was inspiring to see her and all these other 'Christian"
woman living such wonderful Christ centered lives...I wanted to be like them so I started keeping up with her blog and others.....I thought it was great....then one day.....Candy wrote about Catholicism.....I actually thought it was a 'joke'...like seriously that she was just being sarcastic and putting down what some peopel 'think' of the Catholic church...but other commentors were high fiving her and thanking her for the 'truth" ..then I had to re read it a few times...to finally see that she wasn't being sarcaastic or 'joking' ...that she was being serious and to be honest it hurt....here I thought I'd found a nice group of Christian women that I could learn from and mentor with ....yet they didn't even believe i could be Christian...never mind all the other hateful things they believed about Catholics....to this day it floors me that this is how so called Christian women treat others..that while they pat themselves on the back for being such wonderful Christian Wives and Mothers they are actually telling other Christian women they are hellbound and stupid and other such wonderful nonsense...

It is sad, because I will give it to her that she has a great attitude about life (sometimes). To not let the little things bring her down is wonderful, but that is just it. Just because you are Catholic it changes your relationship with her and her blog. That is insane, and it is flat out wrong. I created this post to combat that, and hopefully the people that congregate can find alternative sites that offer the same advice. Thank you so much for sharing.

I am not so sure that she does have a great attitude. We aren't there to see her each day. If she is lying about other things, whose to say she isn't about how happy her life is. I hope she is that happy, but I am skeptical about anything she says or does.

I saw a comment on your last blog from someone saying that she actually asked her readers for money one time. This all goes back to what I have said before. I think she portrays this image and preys on the Christians and is just trying to get money from them for products she is selling and other things.

I read her site. I like many of the ideas she has. Do I agree with everything she believes? No. I think she's way off base on many things. I thinks she's sligtly off base on others. And I think she's right on base on some. I don't read her blog for her religious insight because, even though I am extremely conservative (politically, morally, Biblically, religiously and all other "ally's") she and I don't meet eye to eye on many of those issues. I think that if you disagree with someone's beliefs, you can do so in a very kind, straightforward and Biblical manner.

I don't get the Meez thing, but I also don't get the obsession of Meez by others either. So, I guess I am just missing something on that one. Thus, I just cracked a Meez joke (don't comment on my lame Meez joke on her site) on the comments.

I don't post things I disagree with on her site because, well, honestly it's her site. Why argue with her on her site? I post thoughts and such and move on, taking what is good, leaving the rest.

Ourfamilyishis, you said: I think that if you disagree with someones beliefs, you can do so in a very kind, straightforward and Biblical manner) I just wish Candy would be that way as well, but her tactics are very poor and if she really thinks she is getting through to Catholics or saving them.. wow.. she is simply not, she is angering them and pushing them into their faith even more so that they can get stronger in their Faith, so in that sense, she is making them better Catholics, so I guess, that is a good thing.
I liked her blog too, I don't anymore but I really appreciate posters like you who don't high five her for her Catholic bashing or encourage her, and I want to thank you for being honest, that is very refreshing.

Well that is so true about the lies. I have a hard time believing someone who tells lies about random things. Telling us the concrete fabrications that she has did nothing to prove her point. It is like me saying I am a successful attorney (I am not an attorney). It does nothing to prove my point here. Why would she do it? I am hoping that she will get on this site. I don't want her acceptance by any stretch of the imagination, and I don't see it coming anyway. I want to have a true discussion to expose her for what she is. She will never change, but it sure would be fun.

I like your website too. It's good to have a place to voice concerns about Candy's website, as she certainly will not address anything which goes against what she would like to be true. As many of your readers/commenters have said, I initially liked Candy's site. At first glance it seemed like a good homemaking site.

Then I stumbled across her posts about Catholics. I am not Catholic, but her strong opinions really bothered me.

Next I read her views (or should I say her hubby's views) on paying taxes. At this point I left a comment on her blog, along with a Scripture that clearly states we are to pay taxes. I was polite and certainly followed her guidelines for leaving a comment. When she didn't answer me, I left another comment asking why she did not respond. I again left the Scripture that says we are to pay taxes. Once again, she did not publish my comment or answer my question.

I do have a general question for readers, if I may.

For those of you who have links on your blogs to the "Jesus is Lord" website, why do you have them? Some of you have said that you don't 'hate Catholics,' but that site is so terribly distorted about what Catholics believe, that it feeds hatred.

Another One,

I'm responding to your comment, posted below:

For those of you who have links on your blogs to the "Jesus is Lord" website, why do you have them? Some of you have said that you don't 'hate Catholics,' but that site is so terribly distorted about what Catholics believe, that it feeds hatred.

I am going to assume you are directing this question to me as I do have this website on one of my blogs. First, why do I have this site on my blog? Because I want to. When I originally found this website I heard that it was being pulled down all over the internet. I think that is disturbing and wrong. I know of other things that has happened to so I was curious. I linked it to my blog so I'd remember to go back and look at it more often. I also wanted to see if the link would fail in time - it hasn't. Also, because I have a real issue with web pages that get pulled off by different systems when they have not violated specific posting rules. This has happened with many good Christian postings and curiously with anti-Obama materials as well. Now, as to what I think of the website, I think it is interesting and on my blog I can link anything that I find interesting. I'm not feeding Catholic hate. I don't hate Catholics and I'd hope that Catholic people everywhere would be secure enough in their faith to not feel hated by everyone who disagrees with their faith. I was raised Catholic. I went to Catholic schools, studied Catechism and choose a different path for myself and my family. I feel peace with our choices. I do not agree with the Catholic faith yet I don't believe all Catholics are Hell Bound. I believe some are, as are some people who are members of my own church. That website isn't strictly targeted to Catholics, or at least I haven't picked up on that. I also have yet to browse the entire thing. I have as recently as a couple of weeks ago thought about removing it because it lost my interest but if and when I do it is yet to be determined. I have a couple dozen blogs I need to add to my Bloggie Friends list and about a dozen to remove. My blog is a constant work in progress so it changes when I find the time. Keeping the Home will be staying, if you are wondering. I hope I have explained this to you well enough.

Focusing on the housekeeping angle,I was surprised at the post with the photos of the before and after of the pantry. A fly swatter is resting on an apron, which is extremely unhygienic. Flies carry all sorts of diseases and the swatter should certainly not be in contact with an apron, let alone stored in a pantry with food products. That's just Common Sense 101.

There are cleaning supplies stored ABOVE the food products. Big no-no. Really big no-no. Too much risk of contamination of the food, and a risk for accidental poisoning. A cursory internet search brings up numerous poison control and gov. sites that advise that cleaning/bug killing/non-food products should be stored separately from your food storage area, some go as far as to advise they be on opposite sides of the room.

A big part of keeping a home is safe food handling and storage practices. No matter which side of the fence you sit, stay safe and say no to storing your cleaning/pesticide stuff near/above your food. And move the flyswatter.

Aine, I saw that post/picture as well. The same as you've mentioned --- I wondered about cleaning supplies in the same cupboard and directly above the food. Blech.

Mrs. Butler, thank you for answering. Yours is not the only blog where I saw this link.

And I am secure enough in my faith to understand that not everyone who is not Catholic hates Catholics. Respectful disagreement is fine with me. And please don't take my question as an attack--it is an honest question as to why. You have answered it.

But it is full of lies, and it is one of the most commonly linked sites when people spew hatred. That's the only reason I asked. I just wondered what someone might find edifying about it.

And I don't really care what links you have or don't have, retain or don't retain. Keep Candy if you like.

As I said, thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

Another One,

"it is one of the most commonly linked sites when people spew hatred"

That is interesting to me, I guess I'm out of the loop. I linked it mostly just for my own convenience. I'll have to take another look at it when I have a chance. I'm not trying to be a hater ;)

I did originally find it on Candy's site, or at least I'm pretty sure that is where it was, but I haven't seen it there lately. Maybe that is one itty-bitty point for Candy in your book :)

Mrs. Butler, the Jesus-Is-Lord site is listed on the right hand side under "Bible Studies". Not hard to miss. VTC has rebuttals to the various claims on the site, perhaps you have just not had time to go and read the well thought out and researched postings on Visits To Candyland?

I just noticed that you don't have a link to Candy's site on here. I'm sure people will come across this blog and maybe they might not actually know who she is... In all fairness, just an idea.

The site address is there,on the front page. It is listed under the blog title.
"This site is dedicated to Candy and refuting her site http://myblessedhome.blogspot.com/ "

ha ha - how I missed that I'll never know. thanks.

My experience with Candy's website:

One day I thought, I want a recipe to make some ultamate, ASStounding bread. So I googled that, and what do you know, Candy's bread recipe appeared.

I tried it, but it sucked! It was the most horrible bread recipe I have ever heard of, and my family almost died when I made it, especially my poor husband! He begged me (as he heaved over the toilet) to please never make amazing bread again.

That is why I came up with my own recipe, which I call Ultamate Ass-tounding Bread. However, for copy write sake, I cannot share it with you, but I can assure you, it rocks! And it beats Candy's Asskicking, oops I mean, Amazing (silly me) bread!

I won't blame her, though. She means well. Someday when I'm fealing kind of advenchurous, I plan on trying her kombucha tea.

The Jesus is Lord site is not unlike chick tracts ...they are VERY anti-Catholic....tell complete untruths about Catholics and Catholicism. The things they say about Catholicism are just plain disgusting. Likening us to Satanists....calling us the Whore of Babylon..etc etc..To me they are the Christian version of the National Enquirer or The Globe. Sensationalism at it's best.

If one link to such a site I'm inclined to believe one has similar beliefs about Catholicism or any of the other beliefs they disparage...

I don't hate Catholics and I'd hope that Catholic people everywhere would be secure enough in their faith to not feel hated by everyone who disagrees with their faith

The reason Catholics feel this site, and people who promote it through linkage, hate us is because jesus-is-lord features things like "Slideshow of the Antichrist" featuring the Popes, and the word Whore/whoremonger is so very frequently employed.

Articles with titles such as this:
"ROMAN" Catholicism is the MOTHER of harlots and abominations (She's not a daughter, the Bible says she's a MOTHER--the one CONCEIVING, GESTATING, BIRTHING, DELIVERING, AND REARING HARLOTS, WHORES, SODOMITES AND OTHER ABOMINATIONS)

If that's not hateful, I don't know what is. (It's on the right hand sidebar.)

Maggii said...

exactly....it's not merely 'disagreeing" with my faith that is a problem for me....it's the outright, sensationalist lies about me and my faith that are bothersome. Yes my faith is strong enough to handle 'disagreement"...it's even strong enough to handle the lies...although I'm afraid there are some who's faith may NOT be 'strong enough"...and may be swayed by lies...and THAT bothers me...yes.

also there is a BIG difference between 'disagreeing' with someone's beliefs..and lying and disparaging someone's beliefs...

I just checked out that Jesus is Lord site, and it really made my stomach turn. Kaira- you should really double-check that. Doesn't seem like it's a site you'll want to visit in the future. I'm sure there are other great Christian informational sites that don't have that trash on them. :?

Was anyone astounded by the pantry organization. I know you guys were just talking about it, but the before and after pictures did not wow me. I saw a minimum difference between the two. It looked like she just turned thing 90 degrees and said hey look how organized I am

My dog organises better than she does. :)

Who is behind the Jesus is Lord site? If someone doesn't post a name, way to contact them, etc. it usually is fishy.

I noticed the cleaners on the TOP shelf like the other ladies and just shook my head. As a matter of fact, I went right in and changed my whole pantry around so my cleaners would be on the TOP shelf as well.

On a serious note though, I'm sure she wanted to keep the cleaners out of reach of her children, but on top of food ISN'T the place!!!

Amanda #1 said...

Yeah, I was less than wow-ed by her "organizing". It look like she shuffled stuff around, at best. The main things I noticed were the cleaners on top and the store-bought dishwasher soap.

I'll seriously recommend an excellent home management book.

"The Family Manager" by Kathy Peel

It's excellent. I've seen her speak at Mother's parenting conference (yep, I know that makes me a complete dork.) And she has done several national TV shows and other books as well. But this one is the foundation and a true keeper. Check it out. You know if you are into actual, realistic goals and expectations of yourself and your family.

This is all true despite my pathetic, stripper name.
