Having finally succumbed to curiosity regarding this whole meezles business I have created a litle person to toy with.
I found myself disturbingly over concerned with the details of my cyber wardrobe.
I was fascinated to come across a 'poodle skirt' following a discussion here a while back regarding the same. Of course I snapped it up. I think it's very 'me' and goes very well with my Irish flag tee.
Of course I don't know how to do anything or interact with any other little meezles in there. I just left my cyber self standing around in Candys room while I went to the toilet.
Came back to find a nun in there. Nearly jumped out of my skin.
Can I stay there indefinately or will I get evicted?
Oh and Milehimama, you should get some extra coinz as I put your name down as having recommended me ( yours was the only name I knew of the top of my head when I was applying.
Its 10.30pm here in London so I'll be turning in soon.
Thanks for all the entertainment.
Goodnight all!

Oh, by the way, I'm 'LondonBus'. I wanted to be LondonUnderground, for its WW2 resistance connotations, but it was too many letters. Hang on...'DirtyIrishPapist' fits. Can I change my name??

I was like that, too, Clare. I wanted it to be like me, so I'm wearing a shirt that looks similar to the one I own, jeans that I own, and I'm always wearing sandals. Then when I found the Queen Mary background, I jumped ALL OVER that since I'm a ship nerd. Had to add the suitcase, too.

The hair on my avatar is almost identical to mine, though mine isn't QUITE that brassy and mine it an inverted bob, but I'm growing that out. Brown eyes the same.

Clare, if you're into WW2 stuff, you've just made yourself a new friend. I'm so into it, too!

Oh Clare, congrats on your new meez! You will have to come hang out in my heathen room sometime.

It took me a while to figure it out too. There is a gray comment box at the bottom of the roomz screen, you just type something there, hit enter, and a bubble will appear above your head with your words.

Sorry to leave you Sara, I had to get my shrimp onto cook....

I just popped over to the Heathen Room and Sara was there.. wasn't sure anyone would be there.

WHoo HOO! Coinz!

And a NUN COSTUME!

Sadly, you just made my day.

Yeah, I wanted my Meez to be really like me, so I put on green eyeshadow and a serving wench dress.

What? You don't dress like that at home?

I think all the filthee Catholics ought to get the nun outfit on for the next time we visit the Titus 2 Room. We have been reconned already, so it won't make much of a difference.

Candy's "superbuddy", CatholicsAreEvil, has likened every single comment here to a)hunting and clubbing baby seals
b)watching a car wreck
c)Being friends with people who are murderers.

Just thought you would want to know what kind of third degree goes on in Meezland!

We all stand accused.

Milehi, you are quick, and smart. I have to hand it to you.
How you managed to get your meeze to respond cogently, AND move here and there AND keep track of what was being said, phew, kudos to you.
That conversation made me sweat, I just couldn't keep up.
Every time I wrote something I deleted it because I'd look at the screen and see that the conversation had moved on and my comment would no longer make any sense.
My meeze self esteem was drooping. Seriously. I had to do a silly dance here and there in order to lift my flagging spirits.
How you managed to respond coherently, let alone so intelligently is a marvel. I salute you. I looked dumbly on in wonder, squeaking out the occasional 'ha ha' or 'yay!'.

I managed to have a bit of a conversation later on with iheart and covered4christ. They were lovely.

I'm curious abour catholicsareevil. S/he really wanted to get the bit between her teeth. Somebody who wants to stir up the pot I guess. I was convinced it was Candy, but iheart said no. The outfit even looked a bit 'jesus'.in a hippy kaftan and sandals kind of way.
The Miss Marple in me is sleuthing...Amy? Eric? ANOA?
Loved the bikini meeze. I might do that next time. Since I've always been too shy to bare my midriff ( yup, even when I was young and lithe and lissom) i might as wear a 'virtual' one. I thought flippers were the perfect, if eccentric accessory. Heels would have been too predictable. And a possible occasion of sin for Eric.

Well well, I should have known it would only be a matter of time before the peanut gallery would set their sights on a new victim.

Milehimama, I never got around to responding to one of your comments in the meez room because I am a mother and one of my children needed my attention. Being that motherhood takes priority over conversing with strangers, I chose to be with my daughter.

I see that you did not post our entire conversation, just an excerpt. How convenient for you.

I thought we were having a friendly conversation, but apparently from your side, it appeared differently.

I do not feel that the people who post on this blog are murdrers, baby seal killers, etc. I was simply trying to make an illustrative point.

There are some people in this world who understand pictures better than they understand words. The classic artistic vs. intellectual way of thinking.

The point I was trying to get across to you is this: Although not all of you are psychotic uber-stalkers who follow Candy around in Walmart and drive by her house, you are sharing a blog with people who DO take part in those sort of games. SO, you should not pretend to be insulted if someone assumes you are unkind, as you congregate at a blog that has a sole purpose of destroying another human being.

You may think that destroying is a harsh word, but if you were to surf about online and come across multiple websites dedicated to telling people that you are crazy, stupid, you starve your children, you're a nutjob, etc., wouldn't you consider that sort of behavior to be destructive to one's spirit?

That sort of thing can cause serioius problems.

What I was asking you to do, in a roundabout kind of way, is consider the consequences of your actions.

As for this blog being about disagreeing with Candy's beliefs/faith/ideals, etc...it is fine to disagree. However, writing about how her children mgiht be undernourished, or how her food looks horrible, or comments about her breasts, etc...that is not disagreement. That is something very different.

Perhaps some of the readers/posters here have been offended by things that Candy has written in the past. Is this how you go through life dealing with things? Swapping one offese for another? Since when do two wrongs make a right?

Like I said, it is fine, even expected, for people to disagree with one another. I would not be bothered at all if there was just a site of people arguing their points. But this site goes being arguing points. Instead it mocks, humiliates, and ridicules.

Oh, and Milehimama, I am not ANOA. (I had to read back quite a bit to find out what ANOA meant.)

However, if this whole blogging thing doesn't work out, you could definitely have a career in espionage.

Good day.

Wow. Meez land is where the claws come out, isn't it? Are these people serious? Likening an online blog and commenting section to killing seals and being murderers? Where do they get this connection? How do they work that one out?

I guess since they are hiding behind animated characters they can behave in any way they choose. Or, think they can, at least.

Hypocricy seems to be the one common trait among extreme fundamental Christians. They judge all others harshly yet refuse to look at themselves.

If you'll read the comment that I left above yours, you may be able to figure things out. Try reading it very, very slowly.

"I guess since they are hiding behind animated characters they can behave in any way they choose. "

Is that not what you are doing? Do you have your picture posted beside all of your comments? I'm sure you do, otherwise you would not have made that previous statement. Maybe there is something wrong with my computer. Hmmm.

"Hypocricy seems to be the one common trait among extreme fundamental Christians. They judge all others harshly yet refuse to look at themselves."

I am not an "extreme fundamental Christian" any more than you are an "extreme fundamental blogger."

I am a Christian, baptist to be specific.

Don't you also think then that coming across a website that repeatedly tells you that your religion is a cult, you're stupid for believing in it, and you are bound for hell would ALSO be destructive to one's spirit? Don't you also think that being repeatedly denied the opportunity to stand up for one's self and one's religion would be destructive to one's spirit? Don't you think that having your comments repeatedly taken out of context and re-worded would be destructive to one's spirit?

I have a hard time understanding how you can liken us to killers of baby seals, and yet stand back and condone what Candy does. No, two wrongs don't make a right. At least we here don't claim to do our bashing in the name of God.

Yes, that could be destructive. However, you went there. YOU went THERE, she did not come to you. Unlike on meez, where people from this blog are constantly and purposefully going into Candy's room. Don't you find it a bit odd that people who are so offended by her spend hours each night either going into her room or talking about going into her room?

"Don't you also think that being repeatedly denied the opportunity to stand up for one's self and one's religion would be destructive to one's spirit?"

Example?

"Don't you think that having your comments repeatedly taken out of context and re-worded would be destructive to one's spirit?"

Again, example?

"I have a hard time understanding how you can liken us to killers of baby seals, and yet stand back and condone what Candy does. "

I am not likening you to killers of baby seals. What I was trying to explain is that if you are standing around cheering on someone who is doing something terrible, that is just as bad as doing the terrible thing.

As for the second question, would you please post the statement in which I condoned Candy doing something, because I don't recall saying anything like that.

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

Candy has a new Scripture verse on her website. It is very prominent, even above her to-do list.

Which is great! Although I prefer the RSV, I'll post in the KJV.

She posts 1 Cor 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God

We HAVE BEEN saved by grace:
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began

We ARE BEING saved
1 Cor 1:18, above.
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)- Ephesians 2:5

We WILL BE saved:
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved - Matt 10:22

We HOPE to be saved:
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? - Romans 8:24

That is, if we endure to the end with a living faith.

Amanda #1 said...

Caw, you're right. You didn't say anything condoning Candy's actions. However, given that you didn't condemn the, either, and that you're here condemning us, I don't feel it's a leap to guess that you are on her "side". Kinda like walking down a street with your friend who shoot someone.

Don't you also think that being repeatedly denied the opportunity to stand up for one's self and one's religion would be destructive to one's spirit?
Example?

You don't have to read back in the comments very far to see the MANY people whose comments have been either deleted or significantly changed my Candy. Yes, some of those comments were rude, but many of them were polite. And it's only in regards to religion--if you disagree with Candy on anything, odds are your comment is not going to get through.

"Don't you think that having your comments repeatedly taken out of context and re-worded would be destructive to one's spirit?"
Again, example?

I adressed this briefly above, but again, you can see this here in the comments. Angie, in particular, comes to mind, but others have had similar problems. She cherry picks what relects her opinon that all dissenters are "vile" and disregards the rest. She changes links out of "concern for her readers".

As has been made clear many times on here is that we are not so much offended by Candy's beliefs, but her lies. Matthew created this blog, not so much out of love for Catholics, but out of hatred for her constant lies.

Why do we go into her room? If you saw a woman about to walk off a cliff and take hundres of other women with her, wouldn't you try to stop her?

Amanda #1 said...

Should have proof-read:

"And it's only in regards to religion"

Should have read:

"It's NOT only in regards to religion"

Shaniqua said...

I believe, and my Bible tells me, that the only way to heaven is to believe:

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin.

We were born under the power of sin's control.

- Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 6:23a "...The wages of sin is death..."

Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is a result of sin. But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. It is the place where people who are spiritually dead will remain.

- Understand that you deserve death for your sin.

Romans 6:23b "...But the gift of God is eternal

life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Salvation is a free gift from God to you! You can't

earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it.

- Ask God to forgive you and save you.

Romans 5:8, "God demonstrates His own love for us, in

that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!"

When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin's penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we believe in Him and what He has done for us, understanding that we are now joined with Him, and that He is our life. He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us!

- Give your life to God... His love poured out in Jesus on the cross is your only hope to have forgiveness and change. His love bought you out of being a slave to sin. His love is what saves you -- not religion, or church membership. God loves you!

Romans 10:13 "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!"

- Call out to God in the name of Jesus!

Romans 10:9,10 "...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."

- If you know that God is knocking on your heart's door,

ask Him to come into your heart.

Jesus said,

Revelation 3:20a "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him..."

- Is Jesus knocking on your heart's door?

I don't think any one has ever made it a secret that we hate Candy's LIES. Not Candy, not her faith, not her Super Salmon. We hate her constant LIES.

Now, speaking ONLY for myself and not for Matthew or anyone else, I say this:

I don't hate Candy. I love Candy.

In the same way that Candy doesn't hate Catholics. She loves Catholics.

So, I'm guessing this is the classic "for or against" mentality. Funny, you guys complained that when you entered Candy's room, you were asked, "are you for or against." And yet, here you are doing the same exact thing.

"Why do we go into her room? If you saw a woman about to walk off a cliff and take hundres of other women with her, wouldn't you try to stop her?"

Okay, this is plaguing me, because I KNOW I have read that somewhere before.

Catholicsareevil, you might want to sit down for this, for I am SURE it will come as a HUGE shock to you, but catholics believe all that TOO.

The big difference is that while OSAS folks think all Jesus requires is a one time heartfelt conversion, Catholics read the WHOLE Bible and also pay attention to the "enduring to the end" bit because faith without works is dead. You can't just cry "Lord, Lord." because He is going to ask you when you served him.

No one is saved by their own efforts, but by Jesus -- "For us men and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary , and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. " -- but he does expect you to pick up your cross and follow him.

Caw, if you are a longtime reader here, you may recognize it as one of my previous comments:
Why do we keep reading the blog when we don't agree...

If we saw a woman blinded by her own arrogance about to jump off a cliff, and take her dozens of subscribers with her, wouldn't we want to warn her?

It's in reference to Candy's allegory written on her "Critics Answered" post.

I suppose I am doing the same thing. Be that as it may, I don't understand why you would be here if it weren't out of some deep love of Candy. It seems unlikely that you'd jump right in for the greater good of humanity.

No, I can't take credit for the line. The original comes from Candy of course. That's why she loves us Catholics so much. As for the addition of taking others with her, someone else here coined that.

Well, unfortunately, I am going to have to call bullhockey on this one.
I have been in Candy's room when some of you were there. You didn't do anything to stop anyone. Most of you just stood in the corner saying nothing. Others of you were making idle chitchat. What would you have us do? Just as in her comments, the ones who disagreed with her were banned.

And I don't believe that Candy is truly interested in "saving" anyone either. She's more interested in promulgating her beliefs as the ONLY set of TRUE beliefs. She wants people to be "saved" but only on her terms. If you disagree with anything she says, you're hell-bound.

I think it comes down to, Catholics believe we are saved by grace.

OSAS seem to believe they are saved by ONE WORK - their one-time salvation experience.

I understand how you can get so riled up. It is difficult to come across things that challenge long held beliefs. Especially when presented by people you clearly do not like.

It's okay to feel threatened, it's okay to change your mind, it's okay to rethink things, and it's okay to ask questions.

I'm not riled up at all, just intrigued.

I actually have not come across anything that challenges my beliefs. I have come across a group of people who are trying to ruin the life of another.

I posted the scriptures found in Romans simply to explain what I believe, not to tell anyone that they were wrong.

I am not here due to a religious discussion, I came here because I read that I was being discussed. And *SHOCKER* nobody invited me in on the discussion.

You obviously knew my name on meez, you could have sent me a pm telling me that you were going to talk about me, or that you were going to discuss my opinions on matters. But you didn't. You just started chatting away about me. How can you criticize people and then say you are against criticism? I just don't get it.

Let me clear something up here for Matthew. He DID NOT start this site out of hatred. He started it due to the amount of lies Candy states and to disprove it. Also, the pure comedy of her site. I have NEVER heard him say he hates anything or anyone and I believe he has stated that here.

The name is a joke. The name is a joke. The name is a joke. Okay, I've said it three times now, let me know when it sinks in.

So, since you invited me to, I visited your blog. On it, you say, "I am a firm believer in “to each his own” and “live and let live”"

Interesting.

"Yeah, I'm always confused by the commenters who claim we are all "hiding"."

I didn't claim you were hiding, I was responding to someone who was accusing me of hiding.

I noticed that too Tia.

But I think I am learning so much here:

How to needless offend people.

1. Pick an offensive username. An offensive user name is always an aid to offending strangers on the Internet. If you are called on it claim it is a joke, then you can also feel superior in your sense of humor.

2. Be sure to post something about how "cowardly" others are for not revealing their names, photos or real life details. This is much more affective if you don't supply these details yourself. If you are accused of having a double standard be sure to place the blame on others by insinuating they are mean, "stalkers" or otherwise dangerous. In no way admit that others might have the same reasons for being somewhat anonymous as you do.

3. Post very long comments containing repetitive religious diatribes. You can get the most bang for your buck here if you use lots of Bible quotes and are extolling universally held beliefs that you claim you, or your denomination, somehow hold exclusively. If someone points out that these are in fact rather universal claims be sure to say that the people you are hoping to offend aren't really sincere like you.

I am sure I will learn more as the day goes on.

Milehi, I have no idea why, but you're younger than I expected. For reasons I still don't understand, I expected you to be early-40s-ish.

I guess I forgot to take into account that you are pregnant (which, of course, is possible in your 40s, but not nearly as likely).

And if anyone took the trouble to click on my name and then my blog, they'd see my smiling visage, as well.

GOOD LORD! I haven't logged in since this morning and come here to read all of this!

Catholicsareevil, please understand that this site is a venting site about a person who we think is ignorant. If you want to call it a gossip site, go right ahead. It's not the only kind out there.

I know for me, I vent my opinions here more about a mentality than about a person. True, I don't understand her, but shoot, that's normal. Her mentality is what I have a beef with.

For the record, I'm a Baptist, too, not a fundamentalist, though I was raised one. And, do you know something else, I don't believe Catholics are going to Hell, not one's who have a personal relationship with God.

I'm still a Baptist, because that's my belief, but I'm not narrow-minded to think that just because someone else is of a different faith, that they're not my Spiritual family. Nor do I go around accosting people to the fact. Now, we Baptists do get into this mindset that we think we're forgiven and we can act anyway we want. That's not so. And, I'm not talking about a bunch of rules. I'm talking about loving thy neighbor, something we Baptists can work on... myself included.

I have to give you snaps on your cynicism, though, as I'm just like that, which isn't always a good thing.

I don't go into Candy's room because a) I'm not wanted and b) I really don't want to. I'd rather go to a place where I find acceptance without getting booted for some ridiculous reason.

Amanda #1 said...

I find it very odd that no one ever reads here, yet, everyone knows when their being talked about. Does the Holey Speerut speak to everyone but me?

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

Generally, around here we talk about things Candy lies about or misrepresents.

That's how the whole "size 4" discussion came about, among other things.

That's why there is discussion of Catholics (I think Catholics are actually a minority here).

Occasionally, we dilly off to Candy's friends and posters, also talking about the things they are wrong about and misrepresent.

(Yeah, I totally made that word up. But it fits, no?)

Sometimes we are just silly.

"1. Pick an offensive username. An offensive user name is always an aid to offending strangers on the Internet. If you are called on it claim it is a joke, then you can also feel superior in your sense of humor."

I don't believe that my username is offensive, and I will continue to say it is a joke because...it is a joke. And I don't particularly feel superior at all. Tomorrow is a new day, though.

"2. Be sure to post something about how "cowardly" others are for not revealing their names, photos or real life details. This is much more affective if you don't supply these details yourself. If you are accused of having a double standard be sure to place the blame on others by insinuating they are mean, "stalkers" or otherwise dangerous. In no way admit that others might have the same reasons for being somewhat anonymous as you do."

I would have loved to have seen a quote of me insinuating that people are hiding, alas, there is not one. If you had read earlier in the comments, you would see that someone had accused ME of hiding.

3. Post very long comments containing repetitive religious diatribes. You can get the most bang for your buck here if you use lots of Bible quotes and are extolling universally held beliefs that you claim you, or your denomination, somehow hold exclusively. If someone points out that these are in fact rather universal claims be sure to say that the people you are hoping to offend aren't really sincere like you."

When did I say that anyone was insincere?

"I am sure I will learn more as the day goes on."

I doubt it.

Surely you don't believe that no one reads here. 500 comments on the previous post. You're kidding, right?

I have stopped by a few times in the past but I never posted. This morning I had the glorious discovery of my name being mentioned, and how I am a supposed "superfriend." Then, people went on to speculate who I was. So, I finally gave in and commented.

My being here has nothing to do with the Holy Spirit.

Anonymous said...

Funny, isn't it, how people crawl out of the woodwork, start posting somewhere, and project their own actions onto others.

If one is going to judge others for their actions, it is usually a good idea not to participate in the actions that are being judged.

Kind of like saying "people who smoke are stupid" while a cigarette is hanging out of your mouth.

If you are going to engage in banter here, you have no leg to stand on when judging others for doing the same thing.

I'm just sayin'...

Tia...what ARE you saying?

I found your comment to be very passive aggressive. That's really unhealthy...you should stop that.

As far as judging others. I have said that I disagree with people saying horrible things about Candy that go beyond differing religious views.

I find it humorous that you are implying that I'm judgemental...as you comment on a blog entitled "Candy is a nutjob."

I have said nothing about anyone who may or may not be Catholic, or Jewish, or Buddhist, or whatever. Like I stated previously, I did not come here for a discussion on religion. I left a comment because I was being discussed, and it has snowballed from there.

Would you like me to leave? If you would like me to leave, then I gladly will. I certainly wouldn't want to be somewhere that I am not welcome.

You get points for admitting you read here.

I was also wondering about the CAW moniker. I thought perhaps catholicsareevil had been misread as 'catholicsareweevils'?
If that name hasn't been taken yet I think I'll have it!
Sweeping: ditto your comment about 'ABC christianity'.
As I see it this is a fascinating real life example of where that theology takes people.
The theology says "confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and you're 'in' you have your heavenly ticket". No 'vain' works required, you even get to look down on Mother Teresa for her 'works'... ahhh, smugness. The fruit of the spirit Paul forgot to mention.
There is something so appealing I guess about clubs, but in order to have one, some people must be in and some out. Otherwise it's no fun.
Occasionally I find the catholic baiting sickening, sometimes amusing, but mostly I watch and learn.
Candy, CAE, ANOA etc think they are teaching us important truths about God. They deceive themselves . They are teaching us important truths about human nature.
The heart is deceitful above all things.
It was ever thus.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back the freak train up!

"catholicsareevil", they have medication for people like you.

There is so much I have to say, where do I even start.

1) Yes, your name is offensive. I am not catholic, but I do not like to see people being called evil for no reason

2) You complain that we go into Candy's room to go after her, isnt' that what you're doing? You came here, right? Did someone hold a gun to your head? Did someone yank you by the arm and force you to come here? No, you chose to come here.

SO what if your name was brought up. I commented on another blog about how I love chocolate chip cookies. The Pilsbury doughboy isn't banging on my door asking me why I didn't include him in the conversation. Your argument is ridiculous.

3) I don't care what your religious views are. That is what makes me different from Candy. You can believe what you can believe, and I can believe what I believe. I'm not going to try and spoon my traditions down your throat.

Now, I think I've just about covered it all. Oh, wait.

4) You don't have a picture by your name. Are you hiding? Come out, come out, wherever you are!

Okay, CAE:

You may think that destroying is a harsh word, but if you were to surf about online and come across multiple websites dedicated to telling people that you are crazy, stupid, you starve your children, you're a nutjob, etc., wouldn't you consider that sort of behavior to be destructive to one's spirit?

Godliness with Contentment is Great Gain

"But godliness with contentment is great gain" -1 Timothy 6:6

Do you have joy in the Lord? Or are you a defeated Christian?

A defeated Christian is a Christian with no joy. They are not blessing others, therefore they are receiving little blessing from on high. The Bible calls this the law of "sowing and reaping."

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." -Galatians 6:7-8

A Christian tree bears Christian fruits:

"Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." -Matthew 7:16-18

These are the fruits of the Spirit - fruits that a Christian tree (a saved, born again, Spirit-filled Christian) should exude:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." -Galatians 5:22-23

The fruits of the Spirit are:

- love

- JOY (godliness with contentment is great gain!)

- peace

- longsuffering (patience with others)

- gentleness

- goodness

- faith (you are saved by faith, and faith alone [Eph. 2:8-9})

- meekness (don't be prideful or braggadocios)

- temperance (one who has control over their emotions - "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city." -Proverbs 16:32)

The unsaved person produces works of the flesh, for they don't have the Spirit of God helping them:

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." -Galatians 5:19-21

The works of the flesh are:

- adultery (sexual relations with someone other than your spouse)

- fornication (sexual relations outside of marriage)

- uncleanness (morally impure)

- lasciviousness (lustfulness, lewdness)

- idolatry (making anything more important in your life than loving and serving the one true God, or bowing to statues)

- witchcraft (including new age philosophies)

- hatred (including back biting, returning evil for evil, gossiping, etc.)

- variance (being at variance with others for the sake of causing trouble)

- emulations (trying to be equal or better than others, often leading to jealous rivalry - "keeping up with the Joneses")

- murders

- drunkenness (including not being sober-minded)

- revellings (raising tumults, merriment at another's expense, inappropriate merriments)

Did you notice a distinction in the two Galatians Scriptures quoted earlier in this post? Galatians 5:22-23 tells of the fruits of the Spirit, while Galatians 5:19-21 tells of the works of the flesh. EVERY Word of God is pure ("The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." -Psalm 12:6-7) This means that it is no accident that Galatians says "fruits" of the Spirit, versus "works" of the flesh.

You see, if a person isn't saved, they do produce the fruits of the unsaved, but they do them because they choose to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Before a Christian became a Christian, they also, of course, struggled with the lusts of the flesh:

"Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." -Ephesians 2:3

Yet, when one becomes a Christian, they have crucified the lusts of the flesh, and now follows Jesus Christ:

"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts." -Galatians 5:24

A Christian can still be temped to the lusts of the flesh, but the Bible tells us this:

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." -Galatians 5:16

When a Christian walks in the Spirit, then they don't have to do works to produce the earlier listed 'fruits of the Spirit. An apple tree does not have to work to grow it's apples. The apple tree grows the apples, because that's what it was created to do. The Christian tree produces Christian fruits, because that what the Spirit-filled Christian tree is meant to do. And one of those fruits is JOY.

Here is why God created us:

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." -Ephesians 12:13

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." -Revelation 4:11

Does your Christian walk bring pleasure to the Lord? That is your purpose in life; that is why you were created.

When you stop looking to fulfilling the lusts of your flesh, and you instead live to bring God pleasure, then God will make sure you are provided for, and that your flesh's needs are handled:

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon {worldly things, like money}. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." -Matthew 6:24-34

Some people think that you can serve mammon/money/things, AND God, but as Jesus pointed out, that is impossible. For example, (and this is a very common occurrence) if you are trying to pay your way through college, to start a career that is dear to you, but you don't have the money, what do you do? You can't find any jobs in your area that would pay enough to get you through college, except for a strip club, or an escort service. Those jobs pay very well, and are night jobs. Therefore, you'd be able to attend school during the day.

What is the right thing to do? Do you take whatever job you can, to pay your way through college, and then apologize to God for taking an immoral job? If so, then you are really serving mammon, and not God. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6 that we are to seek God and His righteousness FIRST, and then what we need will be provided for us. If college is in your future, then you don't have to commit evil works in order to go to college. If God wants you to go to college, you will.

The right thing to do, in this example, is to NOT take any of those immoral jobs, and if that means you end up not going to college, then you don't go. You are here to serve God, not mammon. The Bible does not say you can do both. It says it's one or the other.

When you are faithful to God and His righteousness, then He will open other doors of opportunity for you. Let Him lead and guide your ways:

"He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake" -Psalm 23:23

Follow God's ways, not man's ways. When you do this, a lot of people will hate you, by the way:

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." -John 15:19

Serving God and his righteousness won't guarantee an easy life or worldly riches, yet if we seek and follow the Lord, HE will guide us and bless us. Christian, stop living to fulfill the lusts of your flesh, and start truly seeking God FIRST and His righteousness. Let us not store up treasures on earth. Let us store up treasures in heaven:

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." -Matthew 6:19-21

We create our treasures in heaven by bearing Christian fruits while we are on this earth. The biggest job of the Christian is to spread the Gospel, so that others are saved from the condemnation to come. There is nothing more treasured in heaven than a saved soul.

Walk in the Spirit, and you will have JOY and contentment, even when the world would say you shouldn't have it, because of your circumstances.

Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Why I Keep My Children With Me In Church

I am a home school mom. One of the reasons I don't send my children to public school is because I don't think the artificial environment of age segregation and group clicks are beneficial to the child's socialization to the real world. In the real world, one interacts with people of all ages, in all sorts of life situations.

When children of the same age are grouped together, you get a sort of "critical mass," where their age-related developmental deficiencies compound each other.

The Bible tells us:

"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame." -Proverbs 29:15

Most mothers are not able to attend public school or Sunday school with their children. They don't know when their children are being left to themself, and are not getting proper supervision. They don't know if their child is getting trained up in the way of the Lord, and being taught godly wisdom. Even more importantly, the child-to-adult supervision ratio means that you don't know what the other children are teaching your children, since the children largely outnumber the (often-impersonal) adult(s) who are in charge. I believe the job of child training falls to the parents, and I believe the Bible teaches this:

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6

How are we to train up our children in the ways of the Lord, if we are sending our children to others, whom we may not even know? Furthermore, the Bible tells us to chasten our children, immediately, when they do wrong. We can only do this, if our children are with us.

"He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes {archaic definition of 'betimes' means right away}." -Proverbs 13:24

Nowhere does the Bible tell us to send our children to Sunday school to learn of God. However, it does command us parents to teach our children about God:

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." - Deuteronomy 6:4-7

There are many instances recorded in the Bible, where the people of God gathered together for worship, to hear teaching, or to listen to the Word of God being read out loud. None of these instances mention the children not being with their parents, or of the children being sent to nursery, Sunday school, or children's church. However, some of the instances do specifically mention that the children were right there with their parents. Here are a few of those scriptures that state such:

"When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:" -Deuteronomy 31:11-12

"And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law. There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them." -Joshua 8:34-35

Since it is my God-given job to train up my children, chasten them betimes, teach them of God when I 'sit in my house,' when I 'walk by the way,' when it's 'bed time,' and 'in the mornings,' - basically all of the time - as prescribed in Deuteronomy 6:4-7, I must have my children with ME to do so, not send them off to others.

Furthermore, as Deuteronomy 31:11-12, Joshua 8:34-35, and other scriptures show, the children were with their parents when the Word of the Lord was publicly taught. There is no mention of the children being ushered off to Sunday school, nursery, or children's church.

I have always felt led to keep my children with me at church, and the Bible backs up my leading. Furthermore, worship is a family event. The family of Christ gathers together to praise God, and to drink deeply of His Word. Since it is a family event, should the earthy mother-father-children family unit be discounted? I worship the Lord God with my husband and children when in church, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

This is why I choose to have my children with me in church.

I disagree with Candy. (Shocking, ain't it?)

A Christian's biggest job, our most fundamental purpose, is to worship God with all our mind, all our heart, all our soul.

That's why there will be hermits in Heaven, too.

In today's recycled post, we have this:

The works of the flesh are:

- adultery (sexual relations with someone other than your spouse)

Not guilty.

- fornication (sexual relations outside of marriage)

Guilty. But, I have no problem with it. I've lived my life, learned from my experiences and become a better person for them.

- uncleanness (morally impure)

Morally impure? What does that mean, really?

- lasciviousness (lustfulness, lewdness)

I have definitely lusted and I am certainly rude when it fits.

- idolatry (making anything more important in your life than loving and serving the one true God, or bowing to statues)

You mean like the KJV bible or your husband?

- witchcraft (including new age philosophies)

Where in the bible does the word, or even idea, of "new age philosophies" appear? Isn't including new age philosophies adding to the bible?

- hatred (including back biting, returning evil for evil, gossiping, etc.)

Well, now. It would seem someone has a bit of repentence to do, doesn't it? Posting pictures of people's homes on her web site, pretending to be someone she isn't, creating false identities and lying about who she is? Hating Catholics. Hate is not the same as love, no matter how one attempts to spin it. Gossiping? Oh, now, the pot is just as black as the kettle.

- variance (being at variance with others for the sake of causing trouble)

Being at variance? Can someone tell me what this definition of variance is, please? I wonder who is causing trouble? Who posts Catholic hate at very strategic times?

- emulations (trying to be equal or better than others, often leading to jealous rivalry - "keeping up with the Joneses")

Where does this one come from? Is it in the bible? It it defined as she defines it? There is nothing wrong with trying to be "better" than someone. Often, being the bigger (better) person is the morally correct option. Something isn't jiving here.

- murders

Well, I don't murder people. But, I killed a bunch of mosquitoes the other night. And I killed a snake in my garden bed last week.

- drunkenness (including not being sober-minded)

Guilty. I was quite drunk Saturday night. I like my beer, the alcoholic kind. And, will you be surprised if I tell you that Saturday wasn't the first time I'd been drunk?

- revellings (raising tumults, merriment at another's expense, inappropriate merriments)

Oh, is someone feeling sorry for herself? Is someone making up biblical principles as a way of saying she knows people are having fun at her expense? Apparently, she can dish it out but she can't take it. She gets quite a bit of enjoyment out of tearing apart the Catholic faith for her own benefit. She gets quite a bit of enjoyment out of twisting things beyond recognition and using circular logic and statements. And, can anyone tell me what inappropriate merriment is (according to the bible) versus appropriate merriment (again, according to the bible).

This woman is a hoot! No one really even needs to get involved her to have merriment at her expense. She makes it perfectly available to anyone who reads her site.

Seems to me someone is getting a bit perturbed by the fact that she is no longer able to spew her hate and judgment unchecked.

kentuckybluegirl said...

Well I can get me snake. And I'll save you a place with one of those big dragon intertube things. I love dragons almost as much as evil unibrow clowns!

Amanda #1 said...

Guilty. But, I have no problem with it. I've lived my life, learned from my experiences and become a better person for them.

Oh, but you just THINK you've become a better person. NO ONE really becomes a better person or does anything good without God. Tia, your problem is that you desprately need God in your life, but you won't acknowlege it, and so you keep trying to fill that void in yourself with your empty "good works". You're only deluding yourself into thinking you're a better person, Tia.

You need to get a KJV.

Anonymous said...

I know Amanda. But, you know what they say. The first step in healing is admitting that you have a problem.

I suppose the fact that I admit I am a heathen Deist / Agnostic is the first step towards becoming a KJV-onlyist with all the answers.

Baby steps. I'll be a self-righteous know it all who lives a perfect life before you know it.

Amanda #1 said...

In regards to today's post....I've got a couple issues.

First, why is she so hell-bent on JOY? Candy, it's OKAY to not be happy all the time. I just read (in a heathen Catholic book) last night a great explanation of this. Of course I don't have it with me; I'll have to post it later. The gist, though, is that joy does not equal happiness. You can have the joy of the Lord in your heart and still experience sorrow, anger, impatience. Having the JOY of the Lord does not mean slapping on a happy face no matter what.

Second, this whole "works" kick that she and ANOA are on. I understand and accept that she and I have very different opinions on works. I can let that go. However, I cannot let the two of them go on insisting that if you're REALLY saved you'll just do good things all the time, automatically. But at the same time, atheists who do good works automatically are only doing so b/c they're trying to fill a void.

Doing the right thing DOES NOT always come naturally to me. Sometimes, I have to work hard to do the right thing. Why does that make me less saved? Why does that not count? And why are good things ONLY good things if you do them in the name of God? If someone saves me from a burning car, I don't care if they're Catholic, Morman, Islam, or atheist. It's still a pretty nice thing to do. Are you telling me that God doesn't care that they saved my life?

Actually, I know that's what you'd say. And I cannot accept that there exists a God who feels that way. If that means I'm hell-bound, well at least I've got some good friends here who will be waiting for me.

Anonymous said...

First, why is she so hell-bent on JOY?

I've held this theory for a while, and forgive me if I've posted it before, I can't remember. I think Candy is afraid. Afraid she's got it wrong, that she's made a mistake (and if you believe that one wrong foot, one wrong belief, the wrong Bible, will pitch you into Hell, you're right to be afraid).

So she puts on this happy face all the time, because joy is one of the marks of the Holy Spirit, right, so if she's joyful all the time that means she's got the Holy Spirit, and if she's got the Holy Spirit she's not going to Hell, hurrah hurrah hurrah let's all go off for tea and buns.

Candy is exactly like my MIL...you can't tell them otherwise they will not hear of it. My MIL and Candy beliefs are identical. My MIL wouldn't sink as low to put on a different identity and cause trouble though. My husband grew up in a home a lot like what Candy has done to her kids. Keep them away from the world. He was naive (still kinda is)and didn't believe anything that comes out of anybody's mouth unless it was her's. He wasn't rebellious because she had him so scared of "unsaved" people he just never thought of escaping that mentality.
It really irks me though when she befriends people and after she gets them "saved" she drops them like a heavy load. She always says for every soul you lead to salvation there's a reward in heaven. Sounds selfish to me. I mean I would like to receive rewards in heaven but I don't want to get them the shady way.

I guess my husband became corrupted when he turned 18 and got a job at the same place as me.
