Quick update

I am posting this on behalf of Matthew. There will probably be other people posting updates for him for the next month or so and he will post when he can. At least with this update, everyone won't have to sift through 450+ comments!! So, hang on to your new $2 bookcase because we will be back soon.

That bookcase is the reason one shouldn't order furniture from Oriental Trading Company.

Those shelves are thin!

And oh my gosh, I just caught sight of the sidebars to the Sermon.

Ding dang dong!

Amanda #1 said...

Yeah, MH, the sidebars are what finally tipped me off to the notion that the site might be satirical. The blurb about sexually explicit Bible verses is pretty funny.

I forgot how many gems there were in Candy's articles. For instance, here, in her article, Keeping it Together, she stresses the importance of Family Read Aloud time. In theory, I really like that idea. But we all know Candy can't stop there. Guess what book she suggests starting with, especially for young children? Pilgrim's Progress. I don't know that I could sit through a read-aloud of that!

Nicole said...

I wonder if she says Pilgrims Progress to make us think her kids are oh so smart but in acutality is reading the simplified version of the book for kids put out by Abeka. Monkey is reading that right now and he reads it aloud to his sisters every night. It is very understandable.

Amanda #1 said...

I could go for that, too, Cajun, but she specifically says in the article no simplified or abridged versions.

"Have Family Read Out Loud Time every day. Don't read simple fiction or children's books. Read books that stretch the mind (unabridged, please). Books where your children may not understand half of the words in it (you may not, either). They will learn the meaning of the words through context, as you read the story. Their vocabulary skills will soar (so will yours ;-) )."

I'm also fairly confident in saying that there is no way my husband would sit for Pilgrim's Progress either. Oh, that my family were as well-trained as as intelligent as hers.

Anonymous said...

Does she explain to her mega intelligent 2 year old what allegorical means? Or, does she just read Pilgrim's Progress and let the kids miraculously understand it - just as she does with the bible. You know, that whole no explanation needed. I would imagine if she is super gifted at interpretation and understanding, she would have passed some of those genes onto her offspring.

I also wonder if she is reading aloud as it was written, or the modernized version? Because, you know, just like the KJV, it is best in its supposed original form and everything else is incorrect and wrong. The modern version of Pilgrim's Progress may use the word savior instead of saviour. Oh, the horrors.

I also wonder if she read Bunyan's apology, out loud, to her children? And, if so, did she do so before diving head first into the book or afterwards? Was any form of context given?

And let me just say if she is reading it as written, in its entirety, to her children - she is creating zombies. Grown adults cannot get through that book (not all, but I know may) - how the heck are kids supposed to sit still and listen, and get anything out of it?

Does anyone really think her kids sit and listen to that? Never mind actually getting anything out of it. She is probably creating zombies; kids who can pretend to listen, but are actually off in never, never land. At least there is some point in their lives where they can use their imaginations.

I need more coffee. My previous post is pretty darn sloppy. I wanted to delete it, fix it and repost it, but Blogger went off the deep end and wouldn't let me delete.

Maybe Blogger is lacking caffeine as well.

From her comments:

Hi Candy,

Having a really hard time with the exercise thing and I shouldn't because you don't and you have two more children than I do. I have a two year old and an infant and I really, really need to drop quite a bit of weight. I have found that unless I work out about an hour a day (hard) and watch what I am eating I either don't lose or even gain.

This is while nursing ! Anyway, DH works shifts and I never know if he will be up with us during the day, off doing something for himself, working overtime or sleeping.

I have a treadmil and find it hard to get the girls to give me a solid block of time (to get 45 min it it will take at least an hour and a half with all the interruptions) then I need to shower...etc.

Maybe I am just going to have to let go of a bunch of other things in my routine? I do take the girls for about an hour walk/play time, but if I make that an exercise thing I will have to put my toddler in the stroller and the point is for her to get exercise

We are not in the greatest neighborhood so going out without my DH is not an option. DH simply cannot be counted on because his job often calls him out.

Should I just bite the bullet at nap time and work out (baby sometimes still keeps me up with teething so Mommy sometimes naps too). Anyway, any advice would be appreciated.

Many Blessings
Ace

I am convinced this "Ace" person is nothing more than a character from Candy's imagination. No matter how whipped one can become by Candy, I cannot believe - I cannot allow myself to believe - that there is someone this stupid on the planet. It seems this Ace worships the very air that Candy breathes and can make no decision for herself. Ever.

PS - I love the sermon that was posted! I cannot wait to see the fallout.

sweepingthehome said...

Get thyself to a Starbuck's, Tia. But your post is fine, I understood it!

I think it is hilarious that she posted the link to that "sermon". She would just die if she realized it is a website owned and operated by an atheist organization. Too funny.

Now about the Pilgrim's Progress, does anyone here actually believe she read that as a family read aloud? Bullshit! It's just another lie she posted, to go along with the inventors hall of fame and MENSA lies. I don't believe for a minute that she has ever read it, not to herself, and certainly not as a family read aloud.

Someone recently pointed out that she never discusses any of the books she lists in her sidebar, and wondered what her purpose is for posting it. I find that extremely interesting. I'd bet dollars to donuts she hasn't read 3/4 of the books she lists.

sweepingthehome said...

"Ace" always lavishes the praise upon Candy and has never posted a personal website.

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

I think she just collates a list based on lists on OTHER people's sidebars.

I've read Don Quixote, and it's not "just so funny".

I don't know how much she reads, but a couple of things I've noticed:
There is no structured reading time in her daily schedule. I am a voracious reader and read fairly quickly; I sneak my reading time in while the kids watch Magic Schoolbus.

What's the point of cable if you don't let it babysit the kids? LOL

AND OH< Matthew, you might want to know that your "deal" with Candy is over. She has a new sidebar - Truths for Catholics.

It includes posts like The Two Babylons, Mary Worship, and more!

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

And let me just say re:the Mary Worship article, which is a link to a "former nun" that no one has been able to prove exists.

She writes...
I practiced Mary worship for many years without realizing it

How does one worship something accidentally? Isn't a deliberate act of the will to worship something?

If we teach a parrot the Lord's Prayer, it doesn't mean it's worshipping, because it does not comprehend or assent to worship.

sweepingthehome said...

It's pretty incredible, but there are others out there who believe exactly as Candy does. Check out this whacky message board, and no it is NOT satire, these people are unfortunately serious:

Fresh Hope

They have a forum called "Just for Catholics." What is interesting is that Catholics are not permitted to post in the "Just for Catholics" forum. Only anti-Catholics can post, and the venom spit forth is remarkably similar to Candy's. Incidentally, the site owner's name is Cindy. Her posts are full of ignorance and hatred.

Just for Catholics

Anonymous said...

Oh my...the just for Catholics board has this as its description:

Just for Catholics

A place for us to put information just for our catholic friends to read because we care so much about them. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge

Apparently, ultra fundamental Christians have a problem with the definitions of "love" and "care".

I am so beyond amazed that there are people like that. They have the same mentality as the Muslim extremists; all are wrong except us and we must fix that...what a sad, horrible way to live.

Amanda #1 said...

Wow, that Fresh Hope site is something else. It'd be funny if it wasn't so scary.

I'd point Candy to it, as it seems to be a board full of her kind, but I think she's frightening enough on her own. We don't need her joining up with others. It'd only validate her.

Candy is a wolf in sheeps clothing.....

Me said...

So she's edited the comment with the sermon link, now to a new sermon. Oh, that was fun while it lasted, eh?

Amanda #1 said...

Me, I just noticed.

I think what I find most amusing is that no one found the sermon to be in poor taste, just the ads. She also added this comment at the end:

Robin, thanks for the heads up about that sermon. I just now went over there to take a look, and the ads in the sidebar are BAD. I'm sure Susan didn't mean anything by it, and may not have even noticed the ads.

I removed the sermon link from Susan's post, and put in a different link to another sermon that I think she'll like. I have the "edited by siteowner" tag in her comment, so that she and others see that I edited it.

I'm certain, of course, that Susan had no idea ;)

Anonymous said...

You know what is funny about her having changed the sermon link? She thinks it was an "honest mistake" - she has no clue whatsoever that she was made the butt of a joke and that the site linked was / is satirical.

Tells you something else though too - that she thinks so little of others that she doesn't pay attention to them enough to notice. She's too important for that, dontcha' know.

Anonymous said...

Oh, she put up her little Mary explanation, which ultimately is nothing more than more Catholic bashing, using a "former nun" as her reference.

She's a real winner, that one. Apparently, it is not really a conviction of hers, because if it were, she could put into words what she believes and why. Instead, she references a former nun, as if that is the only source needed and clears everything up.

Not so thinly veiled Catholic bashing take center stage yet again.

Predictable. Not credible. All ignorance all the time.

I'll be gone now 'til later this evening and I can't wait to see the fallout when I come back - here and elsewhere.

sweepingthehome said...

Candy is a wolf in sheeps clothing.....

Candy's buddy Ginger posted this. Explanation please.

Amanda #1 said...

Ooops, it would seem that Susan inadvertantly linked my blog on her post. (Not intended, but too late now.)

I was wondering too what was up with Ginger's comment. It seemed a little out of the blue. An explanation would be nice.

Rachel said...

Sweeping,

I'm stumped by Ginger's post as well. Hey Ginger, come on out and explain. You have peaked my curiosity.

Sermon link - I tend to think Candy reads here and saw the posts mentioning the link and changed it to show her "good, caring side" all the while knowing it was a jab at her. But the commentors are too blind to see that.

Anonymous said...

OK, I just have to say this before I'm done. The so-called nun in her reference may not even exist. The only places you find info about her are Candy style sites; Bible Believers, Jesus is Lord, Jesus is Savior, etc.

Grain of salt and all that. I do not consider any of those places credible sources for anything.

I'm sure VTC will cover it, but until then, here is a commonly linked critical examination of this so called former nun:

mystery nun

Read some of the linked articles at the bottom as well, like "Will the real Mary Ann Collins please stand up".

Amanda #1 said...

Rachel, that does make sense. It would also explain my blog link showing up. I've mistakenly left it before (under Susan's name), but I deliberately erased it this time (my browswer auto-fills in forms for me). It's probably Candy's way of trying to scare me, by editing it in.

Here's the scary part, though: if we assume she saw the "Sermon" here, she had to have known that the site was satircal. And she posted it anyway? Even though the ads are crazy, she agreed with the (fake) content enough to go ahead and post it anyway?

Rachel said...

Amanda,

She tries to pass the former nun and priest stuff off as "real", so I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to pass the sermon site off too. All her followers take her word that these things are real. This time shouldn't be any different. And even when she deletes the link.. she only makes reference to the ads as being bad, which tells me she saw the "catholics are a cult" and ran with it. Once again, not checking our sources.. just posting garbage (no offense to Susan LOL).

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

Hmmm she cut and pasted Mary Ann Collins entire post - isn't that what shut the other copy of Candy site down?

Amanda #1 said...

MH, "Mary Collins" actually gives you permission to do whatever the hell you please with her article, even sell it. She just wants to "spread the truth". It's all the way at the end of her article.

Rachel said...

It's Two for Tuesday! I see she's posted another fav of hers about Mary. Silly girl. Copy and paste does not make it real LOL

sweepingthehome said...

Instead of writing up an article about it, I will instead quote Mary Ann Collins, who used to be a Roman Catholic Nun, from her article called Mary Worship?

TRANSLATION:

Since I don't know what the hell I'm talking about I'll just link to one of my favorite anti-Catholic sites so that my minions will be impressed.

Amanda #1 said...

You know, she should make a this a regular topic. Like, "Terrible (Catholic) Tuesday" or "Mary is Weeping Wednesday." How about "Frightening Fisheaters Friday"?

I've gotten beyond being mad about the Catholic posts. Now, I just find them to be sinfully entertaining.

Amanda #1 said...

Sweeping, I think Mandy needs to do a post on Mary as well. I know where you can get a GREAT sermon to copy and paste ;)

sweepingthehome said...

That's something to consider. I feel like I'm recycling posts lately. Keepin' it real and all that.

Heads up: Synchroswimr sent me an email with info on using Meez. If I'm able to, I will announce a Hoppin' Heathen Party the next time Candy has a praise party. We will play forbidden music and everyone will have to bring a snake. There will be salvations as we witness and pray for people to come out of the church of Candy.

sweepingthehome said...

Whoo boy. Just trudged through the anti-Mary posts. I obviously have too much time on my hands today.

It is hard to write a parody of something that is already so far-fetched that it seems to be a parody itself. I'm afraid I'm not that brilliant. I considered taking the lazy way out and copying & pasting Candy's "articles" and passing them off as my own, but you know, she might get the FBI on my case.

Anonymous said...

Here's the scary part, though: if we assume she saw the "Sermon" here, she had to have known that the site was satircal. And she posted it anyway?

I would guess that she doesn't spend all of her time here, but checks in sometimes. She probably didn't check the link too carefully, but then the other comment clued her in, so she came by here, and then edited the link.

You really have to wonder about the intelligence of people who accept information about a religion (in this case, Catholicism) from someone who isn't part of that religion and actually despises it. Do they honestly think they are getting objective facts? It really is laughable. And what's even more laughable is this "nun" devoted her life to a vocation that she later realizes is all corrupt? If it were true, why would you ever want to go public with that humiliating story?

Amanda #1 said...

Why, Angie, she does it to save the rest of us heathen Catholics. Sheesh, any moron can figure that out.

Rachel said...

I tell you what, in MY Catholic church we don't spend our time spreading lies (cause that's exactly what they are, lies!) about other religions. We don't gather printed materials about other religions. We don't gather information about what other religions are doing what we would feel to be wrong. We spend our time praising God, doing His works and praying together as a community! I find it hard to understand why someone would want to belong to a religion that does nothing constructive with its time. If that really what you think God wants you to do? When we go to heaven, we will spend all our time praising and worshiping him.. always.. forever.. will they STILL be trying to pass our Jack Chick tracts? Will they finally see all their energy was wasted on naught!? I'd rather spend my life on this earth walking the walk and talking the talk instead of endless energy trying to sway people. Sorry, I'm gonna follow someone who leads the way.. not someone who bullies themselves through and demands I hear them out. Phoeey on them!

Makes me wonder what kind of life Candy really had growing up. A control journal as a teen? To divy up her time and a budget to go by?? She was a very strong-willed child (she claims this) and I believe it. She never has anything good to say about her own strong willed child... I'm sure she know sees what her parents went through with her! What goes around... so.. beware... all this nonsense you are spewing forth now... gonna bit you in the butt! BIG TIME!

Anonymous said...

And what's even more laughable is this "nun" devoted her life to a vocation that she later realizes is all corrupt?

She was actually only a novice for a year or two, not an actual vowed nun.

Amen, Rachel.

angie said...

luz- thanks for filling me in on that information. I didn't have time to read the background info- I'm trying to manage five kids, make lunches, etc...

Rachel- Amen to that. I was actually thinking the same thing last night and this morning. From what I know about the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, I absolutely disagree with their beliefs. If they asked me about my beliefs I would share, but I do not judge them or think of them as ignorant. I would never spend my free time trying to build a case against them and spreading hateful lies to get people to jump on my bandwagon. That seems like a very sinful waste of time and energy, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

Amanda #1 said...

The thing is, even the Mormans and Jehovah's Witnesses, the ones I've met have always been kind and respectful. I've never had one come out and tell me I'm stupid for being Catholic. For that matter, they've never told me that being Catholic is wrong; they never really touched on my religion, just told me why theirs was right.

Don't get me wrong, I get as annoyed by JW's as anyone else, but I figure they're kinda like telemarketers: they're just doing what they see as their job. They're not going to convert me, but as long as they're polite, I'm not going to spit in their face.

So with that said, I don't think it's fair to the LDS or JWs to lump Candy in with them. Candy is rude and crass. She can call it "blunt" or say she's not "wish-washy", but the truth is she goes out of her way to be rude and hurtful. Even if she WERE right, and all us Catholics are bound for hell, does she really think that this is the best way to "save" us?

Anonymous said...

Everything about her actions aside, here's what I think about Candy. (I know you've all been waiting for this with baited breath...feel the ooz of sarcasm, please).

She is not secure enough in her claimed beliefs to just let them stand as they are. In order for her to convince herself that she is right and all Catholics - and her other chosen belief systems - are wrong, she has to try to tear them down and project her own insecurities onto them.

Not only is she balancing a slippery spiritual belief system, she is insecure in her chosen life. So, she makes herself out to be the perfect wife, the perfect mother, the perfect Christian. By doing so online, she can do it entirely as she see's fit - there really isn't anyone to tell her differently because she just filters out everything and anything that even comes close to contradiction or evidence of her being imperfect and not being the wonderful, perfect Christian she claims to be.

The choices she has made in her life have gotten her to the place she is at right now, and I don't believe she is as happy and joyful as she claims. And, rather than actually do something about it (if she even can, considering the man she is married to) she does all she can to ignore it and pretend otherwise.

By devoting time and energies to trying to convince millions of people their 2,000 year old belief system is wrong, she is at least getting attention, isn't she? Negative or positive, it doesn't matter. Neglected children often act out because the negative response of their neglectful caregivers is at least a response, as opposed to being ignored. I truthfully think that at least in part that is part of why she does what she does. Whatever it takes to validate herself, she'll do it.

I'm no psychologist, and I am certainly not a theologian, or even a religious person at all, so I can't say for sure. But, I am a relatively smart person (as most adults are). This is just how it appears to be to me. When people latch onto something out of the ordinary, or that contradicts the "status quo", they do so for reasons that are entirely their own. That's how so many people actually get sucked into cults. They are looking for answers they don't receive - or aren't happy with - anywhere else in their lives. So, rather than examine whether they are asking the "right" questions, or going about their "search" in a counterproductive way, they turn to the alternative - often the extreme alternative.

I admit, I have my own issues with the Catholic Church. I also have my own issues with organized religion in general, so I don't point fingers at any one religion. But, the Catholic Church has survived for thousands of years and gone through many incarnations, and - it still exists today. No matter what my beliefs on religion or God may be, I cannot argue with that. The traditions and history of the Church are a huge part of their existence. And, if I were going to decide that I wanted to claim a denomination, or religion, the first place I'd start is at the beginning - the most reputable source, in my opinion - the Catholic church that has been around longer than any IFB or other Fundamentalist system of worship.

Given that, what Candy doesn't realize because she is too blinded by pride and arrogance, is that if someone is searching, they are going to most likely do the same as I would, which is start at the beginning. And, if someone is Catholic they sure are not going to be swayed by the hatred and ignorance in Candy's message. Who would be, in any situation, not just spirituality? If someone came to your house and told you with venom and spit that .... anything you do is "wrong" and you are being deceived and lied to and they have the one and only "truth" - wouldn't you shut the door in their face? I would.

Anyway, I just think that she has much deeper issues in her life that manifest on her website because it is the only place they can. She has nothing else.

That is easy enough to ignore. Making fun of her is one thing, but I stopped trying to refute her long ago; her mind is too closed to be open to anything that doesn't come from the hatred of Jack Chick and those like them. She is obviously very easily manipulated, to have fallen for all that malarkey. And, apparently, she believes the rest of the world can be easily manipulated just like her. She has no clue how wrong she is.

Amanda #1 said...

I'm actually impressed she bothered to leave a disclaimer this time. Her editing comments/links w/o any indication that she's done so is just plain unethical. At least she admitted it this time--I'm sure she'd deny ever having done it before.

I'm curious to know what Candy's husband thinks about her website. Obviously he knows about it and reads it - he occasionally posts there. Candy said once she would prefer to have no comments on her blog at all [yeah, I bet!] but hubby said she must allow comments. He must know she posts lies about their lives; if she's such a submissive wife why doesn't he rein her in?

Candy and Erik remind me very much of a psychological disorder I studied at university, it's called folie-a-deux. Roughly translates to "madness of two". It's a paranoid or psychotic disorder where a couple [or it can be more] who have little or no interaction with the outside world share each other's delusions and paranoias.

It's very rare, but there was a tragic case about 15 years ago here in New Zealand, in a small Taranaki town, where a couple who had folie-a-deux believed their eldest son was possessed by the devil and beat him to death with a brick.

An aside to this topic, but Candy related and her KJV bible worship.

Reading a timeline of sorts of the bible at bible publishers site, I read this:

The Anglican Church’s King James Bible took decades to overcome the more popular Protestant Church’s Geneva Bible. One of the greatest ironies of history, is that many Protestant Christian churches today embrace the King James Bible exclusively as the “only” legitimate English language translation… yet it is not even a Protestant translation! It was printed to compete with the Protestant Geneva Bible, by authorities who throughout most of history were hostile to Protestants… and killed them. While many Protestants are quick to assign the full blame of persecution to the Roman Catholic Church, it should be noted that even after England broke from Roman Catholicism in the 1500’s, the Church of England (The Anglican Church) continued to persecute Protestants throughout the 1600’s. One famous example of this is John Bunyan, who while in prison for the crime of preaching the Gospel, wrote one of Christian history’s greatest books, Pilgrim’s Progress. Throughout the 1600’s, as the Puritans and the Pilgrims fled the religious persecution of England to cross the Atlantic and start a new free nation in America, they took with them their precious Geneva Bible, and rejected the King’s Bible. America was founded upon the Geneva Bible, not the King James Bible.

Kinda' blows away her KJV only argument, doesn't it? I am sure I am one of the few that this is news to. But, I found it interesting.

In the interest of naming my sources for verification by others and to clarify that this is not my brilliant ability to interpret or read or study, I found the information on this site:

English Bible History

Yes, I know I am a posting fiend today. My husband is dealing with a kidney stone that makes him useless and me needing to be "available", but what do I do in the mean time? I worked for a while, but had to be home to take him for a follow up, so now we are home again and he is dosed with drugs and there is no reason for dinner making or anything, so here I sit, doing stupid stuff on the computer.

Boredom is probably how people get into these situations...

Roxanne, I'm not anti-Catholic either. And yes, the images bother me as well.

What I find interesting, is when I write about Campbelites, Jehovah's Witnesses, or the Emergent church, the people who disagree with me are logical and polite.

However, I speak out about how Roman Catholicism is not biblical, and there threats to my person and family, lawyers called, and I get called every nasty name under the sun. These actions don't pass Jesus' "by their fruits ye shall know them" test.

Obviously when a Christian tries to tell a Roman Catholic the truth, the Christian is entering onto a serious spiritual battle ground.

I love Catholics, (I have friends and family who are RC) and that's why I spend some time trying to tell them the truth.

Not anti Catholic? What, pray-tell is her definition of "anti"?

Hmmm, how much has she posted regarding Campbelits, the Emergent Church, etc? Not much. Besides, none of them are as large as the Catholic Church; their numbers don't equal a fraction of Catholics. She hasn't made it her mission to attack them, only Catholics. Over, and over and over. And over. Repeat.

What threats to her, or her family have occurred? Oh, yeah, those imaginary ones that she likes to reference when she compares herself to Jesus. It's the "persecution" she suffers in His name and is earning her rewards in heaven. Yeah, right. Lawyers were called? By whom? When? I missed that, and I really can't believe I would miss something that big; she'd be posting about her persecution non-stop.

I wonder if the unethical actions of altering the posts (comments) of others, continual lies and misrepresentations, and personal attacks towards people and their faith would pass Jesus' "by their fruits ye shall know them" test."
I doubt it. But, that is for her to deal with when the time comes. I just wish I could be outside those pearly gates when she has to explain herself.

If she loves her children and family as she loves Catholics, is it any wonder her husband's family have all but disowned them? Is it any wonder she has such a "strong willed" child? Is it any wonder they have no personal relationships outside the four walls of their home?

With a love like that, who needs to fear Satan?

She's jumping through hoops again and trying to gain sympathy for having been a "victim". Imagining yourself as a victim is not the same as actually being one. Someone should let her know that.

She claims to never have heard of Nestorianism. How can that be? I have no formal religious education and *I* know what it is. How can she be a studied, knowledgeable Christian and never have come across the word, or the concept?

I can't say I ever could have defined it just hearing it out of context, but in this case, the connection was made. I still even had to look it up. But, it's not a new or mysterious word or concept, just one my non religious background had only slight recollection of.

But, a recollection none the less. How can one claim to study the bible and be a knowledgeable Christian without understanding at least the concept?

Oh, yeah, right. I forgot. We're talking about the superiorly blessed Candy who has a God given ability to interpret without any outside help. That's probably why. My bad.

It's the "persecution" she suffers in His name and is earning her rewards in heaven.

Oh, that's where you're mistaken. It's only us heathen Catholic whores who have to "earn" our way to heaven with works. She uttered the magical sinner's prayer and is now saved FOREVER. She KNOWS where she's going, do YOU? (I have some idea where she's going, too, though I suspect she and I disagree in that area).

Candy says, "I haven't judged you by trying to read you mind and state your intentions as you have to me.

When and where have I attacked Catholics? I honestly have no idea. Please tell me."

OK, is this woman delusional? I have to admit, I really didn't want to see Candy write another of these posts. I was rather enjoying her return to homekeeping as the focus. However, watching her being put onto her heels having to defend her stance is really entertaining. I knew she'd be walking on thin ice attacking Mary. What is it with her and Mary? Is she jealous of the special relationship that Mary had with Jesus or what?

I've never posted on this site before, but Candy's latest comment has just set me over the edge. Here's the comment I just left, which I'm sure won't be posted:

"When and where have I attacked Catholics? I honestly have no idea. Please tell me."

---

Okay, I seriously just sprayed diet coke out of my nose when I read that. Candy, I'm not Catholic and I honestly believe that you think you've been called to minister to Catholics... but you attack them CONSTANTLY.

You cite to easily refutable information from biased sources to "prove" why you think Catholics are "wrong." You've cheerfully told Catholic commenters that they were going to burn in hell. You claim that you're doing it out of love, but your tone is condescending - you often talk to Catholics in the same "let me explain to you about the basic facts of the world" tone that I use with my 17-month-old. I can honestly say that your site has caused me to start reading about Catholicism from reputable sources, which is something I've never had an interest in before - and I started doing that because it was *so* clear to me that you were selectively parsing the Catechism, the Bible, and the events of human history to fit your arguments.

As I said, I'm not Catholic. I'm also not Christian, but after hearing the loathing in your tone when you "minister" to Catholics, I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to be a part of any religion that condones such hatred. So if your goal is "soul winning," take it from this heathen unbeliever that you may want to consider changing your tone. Right now it seems like you just enjoy Catholic-bashing with your like-minded followers.

For those who've heard the gossipy rumors that Mary Ann Collins (the ex-nun who wrote the below article) does not exist, please know that what you've read/heard are nothing more than rumors. Mary Ann and I are in email contact - and I can attest that she is real, genuine, and truthful. God bless her heart for putting herself out there, in spreading the Gospel, in telling the truth, and in the sharing of her experiences.

Yeah, the fact that she has been corresponding with someone whose email is maryanncollins@something.com just proves that she is real! Candy is so damn smart!

I can promise you that solidago is one of us. I flat out guarantee it.

Wonder why she chose to post such dissenting comments? She must be bored silly.

Angie, don't let her get to you - that's what she wants. It gives her attention and allows her a medium to play her "I'm all sweet and innocent and they still hate me" game.

Whatever. She isn't worth the time to get bothered about. She's worth some entertainment value - my posts here today will attest to that - but nothing more.

This time around, things have changed. Instead of only comments of praise, she has posted dissenting remarks. Take away the comments of those who don't agree and the comment count would be very low on these compared to previous Catholic bashing posts. Either her minions have stopped falling fall her crap and decided to look into things for themselves, or they really don't care for her games either.

I think I answered my own question - as to why she allows the dissenting comment. Comment count! It would be obvious no one cared what she had to say if there were only a few minor "good for you" pats on the back.

Yes, I did lie. I said I'd be done. I'm not, apparently. At least I admit my faults, and lies. I hope that has earned me some points.

Anonymous said...

Wonder why she chose to post such dissenting comments? She must be bored silly.

She does this every now and then. All of her followers can see how persecuted she is, and she lulls all the pro-Catholic people into commenting. And then she bans them all!

And then the next day, she unbans them.

Poor persecuted Candy. We just cannot imagine the foul language and threats of legal action she receives every day from the global Catholic machine.

Would that be the legal action which could be taken about her stalking of at least two people who have sent comments which do not fawn all over her?

Here's a name she can wear with pride: manifest heretic. Do we all remember what Christ said about those who lead His people astray? Something about millstones, as I recall.

I'm not saying that because I hate Candyites, but because I love them. In the most abstract way possible.

I wanted to post here what I have left in regards to the latest at KTH. I normally do not feel the need to defend my faith when such craziness is going on but I have had enough I guess at least for tonight. Please read what I left there just in case in doesn't get published over there. I feel the need to let others know my heart. Hope all is well and have a wonderful night.

Ok, I feel that I do not need to defend my self or my Lord but this is getting nuts. Let us remember that God is love and that we are all sinners in need of a Saviour. Christ came, lived as one of us and died a horrible death so that none would perish.

Well, I for one am appalled at the behavior I see here. Candy, we are to be salt and light, and if we are being judgemental even under the umbrella of fruit inspecting we are not being Christ with skin on, which is in fact what we are called to be. Anyone that is unsaved needs to know that God is love and He loves you enough to meet you right where you are, no matter what you wear, where you work or even how you talk. Once you come to Him you will see He does love you enough not to leave you there. For those christians trying to reach out lets remember that He does meet us first and then through a relationship changes our hearts. We must die daily. It doesn't happen over night, and that is ok.

I personally do not like the light that is being shone here. I am bold in my faith, but I love my fellow man first. That is in fact what I am called to do. I love the smoker, drinker, cusser, homosexual, and even murderer. Christ met me in my sin and touched my heart in such a way that I have nothing but love to give to others.

For those of you who do not know Him, He can and will do the same for you if you let Him. God doesn't care about your hair, clothes, where you live or even worship, He wants your devotion and love so that He can spill out His blessings on your life. Yes, even christians have trials, we have struggles, we are far from perfect and He still loves us. He tells us in His Word that we are coheirs, not only in the blessings but in the trials as well, so hold tight He can and will see you through.

Let me close by adding, I know Many Many Many, sold out, born again, on fire catholics, God doesn't care where we worship He only care who we worship and that who is Him. He always leaves a remnant, in every church every where, if He didn't who would tell others about Him. Take heart, pray for one another daily and lift one another up with words that edify, be Christ with skin on, be the salt and light in this dark world and show His Love. Anything else and the enemy wins. Let us remember, we are not fighting flesh and blood.

Darn it, I left a comment, but forgot to copy and paste it here. Who knows if she'll post it.

Gisted, I told her that hereon and sol probably didn't see a need to refute her Catholic posts b/c Elena and the others at VTC do a very good job at it, and it still doesn't matter to her. She insists the Catholics twists words to suit them--which sounds nothing so much like the pot calling the kettle black.

I went on to agree that the blind man analogy was flawed--unless, in an effort to save the blind man, she was yelling, "HEY! STUPID!" b/c that's essentially what's she's saying to Catholics. I also mocked her perceived persecution.

I just have to say... from the Nun's Post:
Jesus only appeared as a helpless baby in Mary’s arms, as a dead man nailed to a cross

These images are the sum total, the Clif Notes, if you will, of the entire Christian religion.

God became a man, born a baby like everyone else; He died for us.

I can't believe that she doesn't feel the image of Christ crucified is "powerful".

And... the images of saints I'm familiar with, they are usually pictured with the instruments of their torture and death (if they are martyrs) so I'm not really sure how that is a powerful image when a Crucifix is not?

Once my friend invited her to her blog to see the binder, Candy stopped all conversation with her. Care to know why? My friend was hurt and while trying to listen to her, it was like the Lord lifted a cloak from my face. So, I do have to apologize to you all here. I am sorry. Not that I am going to participate in the party of bashing Candy as this side does, but for having the cloak over my face.

That's how I found KTH. I was looking for resources on homekeeping, and happened on the site when she was in a 'binder' phase. Then I was blindsided by the misinterpretations and outright lies she spreads about Catholics. It is sad that such things come between fellow Christians.

Please extend my sympathies to your friend. I'd love to read her blog, if she doesn't mind sharing her link....

I'm glad that your eyes have been opened, and I hope that some of the other gals that haven't been able to see the truth about Candy's motivation will have their eyes opened by the conversations happening at her blog currently. Oh, Candy, it amuses me so that you continue to claim to not read here:

I'm reading my Bible in a different order than I ever have, and it's been fun. I alterate reading OT books with NT books. After I'm done with Romans, I'll be reading Judges.

Gee, it sounds an awful lot like you're explaining your jumping around in the Bible...which someone questioned here.

As for her "future topics":
~How I came to be "kjv only"
~Why I Keep my Children with me During Church
~My workout videos are...

Haven't we discussed those already? Ad nauseum? Of course, I'd thought that about Catholics and Mary, too.

I also have to wonder why she wants to discuss John 8, 9, 10, and 12....seems odd that she skipped 11.

Ginger, I sorry your friend was hurt. But I am glad that you were finally able to see things from our standpoint. Was she rude to your friend personally, or was it just in reading all the Catholic posts that your friend was hurt?

AmandaL said...

Arrrgg! She never posts my comments and it is so frustrating!!! Of course since I said her salmon dinner looked nasty and I was proud she could get anyone to eat it, I'm not surprised. I'm an Agnostic and I remind her almost everyday that it is hypocrites like her that make me continue not to want to be a Christian.

I also asked her if she had ever met Mary in person or if she only talked with her through email since anyone can set up an email address and she should know that with all of her knowledge and certifications.

And then I defended those of us who read her blog and disagree--why do we go there if we don't like what she says? She is free to post what she likes on her blog--I am free to read her blog and disagree. Catholics are free to defend their religion. Plain and simple.

Candy is laughable -

Does anyone else find it odd that her husband joins her in these Meez parties? Standing around, flailing his arms, trying to look like a stud (although he actually comes across as a slimeball)...so this means they are home together, logged in, and floating around a chatroom while they could be spending some quality together? Anyone like to tackle that one?

Neither one of them is stable.

Ginger, you are not the first person to have such a story. Candy goes in like sugar and comes out like tar. Her belief that she is right and everyone in the world has a right to hear her message is infuriating, and I can only imagine painful if one is personally caught up in the web.

Matchmaking? What did I miss there?

I copied all the comments from last night before I turned off the computer. Kinda' interesting (um, not) that there is quite a different story over there this morning. I bet everyone who commented negatively is banned...I'll have to check that out.

She is an expert at one thing. I will give her that. Twisting and turning things and ignoring any factual - or even actual - statement in her attempts to make others look like the fool that she actually is.

Don't we already know why she is KJV only, and how she came to be that way? Isn't there a link to that in her side bar? And, why she keeps her children with her in church (because anyone else having contact with them is a system of checks & balances and they might discover that they are not happy children at all, or worse, they might put thoughts into those growing minds that she stifles).

Her mind must be a scary place. There is room for only a limited amount of topics and reasoning (and I use that term lightly).

I feel so terribly bad for those children, but I also feel terribly bad for the society in which they will be adults. Four brainless zombies raised without a clue.

Amanda #1 said...

Ginger, as I was getting ready for work, I kept thinking about this:
"Now please, I do not agree with the catholic religion............ But, hey, I haven't met a catholic that thinks the baptist have it right either....."
As far as I'm concerned, you hit the nail on the head. This has been my major beef with Candy all along.

All of us--Catholics, Baptists, Jews, even Muslims--are worshipping God in the best way we know how. In high school, I asked my CCD teacher once: We ALL think that we are the "right" religion, the only "true" religion. What happens if we get to the pearly gates and find out we were wrong after all? What if the Prespetyerians [sorry for the awful spelling] had it right all this time? Are all other denominations and religions doomed to eternal damnation? Of course, he didn't have a an answer and neither does anyone else.

I'll say it again: we are ALL worshipping god in the best way we know how. Candy can say pompusly, "Well SOME Catholics may be saved Christians, but certainly not all of them!" And I can say (just as pompusly, mind you), "SOME Baptists may be saved Christians, but not all!" You can say that of ANY religion--some truly believe in what they're doing, others are just going through the motions.

For Candy to stand back and act as if she, personally, has all the answers is nothing short of stupidity and arrogance.

Ginger, you're right--I don't think Baptists have it right, any more than I think Methodists, Lutherans, or Episcopalians have it right. But fundamentally, we all agree on the most important thing: Christ died for our sins. If you're a Baptist, then darn it, be the best darn Baptist you can be. Better to be a good Baptist than a bad Methodist.

Not one of us has all the answers. I, for one, think it would be pretty funny if Candy and I get to the pearly gates and St. Peter says, "Sorry gals, you both got it wrong. You shoul have decided to be a Methodist."

Erika said...

Can anyone tell us what's going on with Matthew? Is everything okay??

Not one of us has all the answers. I, for one, think it would be pretty funny if Candy and I get to the pearly gates and St. Peter says, "Sorry gals, you both got it wrong. You shoul have decided to be a Methodist."

I don't think that would happen. Although I am not a believer technically, I don't think God cares HOW you worship him. I don't think he cares about the technicalities of day to day worship, bible reading/interpretation, or anything else. God only cares that you DO worship him, that you DO believe Jesus was His son, sent to save you from your sins, that you DO believe in the messages Jesus spread while on this earth, since those messages were direct from God himself.

I cannot for a second believe that God cares whether you homeschool, keep your kids with you all the time, attend a certain kind of church, wear a certain kind of clothes, wear make up or not, are a woman working outside or inside the home...I honestly believe that He has much bigger things to be concerned with.

That is, of course, my opinion and I am a heathen, belonging to no organized religion or belief system. I am one of those who takes that "personal relationship" with God extremely seriously; it is between me and Him, no one else.

God knows the hearts of Catholics, Baptists, Methodists. He knows the hearts of everyone. If their man-made religion is "wrong", does anyone really think He would send them to hell for believing what they've been taught, what they can relate to and what they understand?

There are so many man-made religions in the world. It's been said that they can't all be right. I don't agree. I think they can all be right, because I don't for one second believe it has anything to do with HOW you believe, just that you DO believe! That's why I get so close to the deep end with people like Candy who think they have the one and only truth.

Millions of Catholics over the last 2,000 years cannot be rotting in hell.

If God had only one way in which He wanted to be worshiped, wouldn't it have bee more clear? Wouldn't He have spelled it out in the bible, or some other manner? He is not manipulative. He did not put us all here with only one way to live a good life, then not tell anyone that one way.

Blah, blah, blah. I could ramble on that subject for quite some time, in case no one has noticed.

I still think Candy is bipolar. She went on a manic episode yesterday with her Catholic bashing and that is why she was restless last night. She had the racing thoughts of her future post and couldn't sleep lol. The week in dresses must of been her depressive side. I'm not a psychologist but use to work as a NA in a psychiatric facility and after reading Candy's blog for about a year I think the girl needs medication and a broader social life (that doesn't involve meez people either lol).

Too bad for Candy if she is bipolar. WundurHubee surely wouldn't allow her to go the doctor for something that was all in her head--and he certainly wouldn't allow her to be medicated.

Among other things, were she properly medicated, she might realize what a nutcase WundurHubee really is and run for the hills.

Candy says:
please provide documentation of where Luther taught that ~after~ he got saved. I'd love to read it

Of course, perhap realizing how weak that position is, she decided it's not important any way and Luther probably was wrong. Guess the Holy Spirit didn't enlighten him as much as Candy.

And, why isn't she trying to preach and save the Lutherans from Mary worship, if belief in Mary's perpetual virginity and the Theotokos = goddess worship?

Well, actually not only did Luther believe Mary was the Mother of God, he also believed she was a perpetual virgin!

And I'm putting it here, since I gotta put it somewhere. Hmmm... maybe a blog post is in order.

A new lie about me is being circulated. I am supposed to have preached and written that Mary, the mother of God, was not a virgin either before or after the birth of Christ, but that she conceived Christ through Joseph, and had more children after that Martin Luther, "That Jesu Christ was Born A Jew".

Insisted on the literal meaning of the words, “God born of Mary,” and interpreted “born” according to grammar or philosophy, as though it meant to obtain divine nature from the one who bore him, … We too know very well that God did not derive his divinity from Mary; but it does not follow that it is therefore wrong to say that God was born of Mary, that God is Mary’s Son, and that Mary is God’s mother.
Martin Luther, "Luther's Works"

“I am inclined to agree with those who declare that “brothers” really means “cousins” here, for Holy Writ and the Jews always call cousins brothers Martin Luther, "Luther's Works"

...in childbirth and after childbirth, as she was a virgin before childbirth, so she remained.
Martin Luther, “Sermon on the Presentation of Christ in the Temple,” Luthers Werke 52:688- 99

Anybody can be diagnosed as bipolar, nowadays. I read today of a woman who was dx because she spent a lot of money - renovating her house. Apparently the psych felt that going into debt = hypomanic behavior.

Nicole said...

I posted on her workout post that I do not use tapes because I go to the gym to take classes. I wonder if I will get a comment about how I am wasteful with hubby's money even though that is one of the things that comes from my paycheck since it is extra money.

Stacy said...

I definitely feel badly for Candy if she is bipolar. As Amanda said, hubby won't let her get treated, but she probably is in denial about it.
I remember Candy at one point saying that depression is all in your head and suggesting that it isn't real. I couldn't find a post in a search, but I remember it because that comment really upset me, as I have suffered from depression for 15 years. At times it is crippling and terribly frightening.

Stacy said...

Cajun, I thought about writing in response to her tapes post that I swim (laps and synchro) and bike, activities which have fairly immodest clothing (just to see if she will post it). But now that I have posted here, she wouldn't post my comment at KTH. You guys are more fun, anyway.

Nicole said...

I always get annoyed when people say depression is all the heador that if you have it you are not relying on God enough. I have dealt with it for many years and can honestly say that I rely on God more than anything yet it is still a very real thing.

Has anyone read the book Fascinating Womanhood that Candy is always talking about? I bought it after she mentioned it a couple of times. I believe in submission and the husband being the head but this is just too much it talks about how before hubby gets home you should fix your hair and put on lipstick. Um if they knew anything about my middle daughter they would know that hubby is lucky if I got to take a shower in the morning before my middle daughter woke up. I can not leave her alone for a second.

It also says that if your husband upsets you then you should stamp your foot and pout. If I did that hubby would laugh at me and definitely would not find it cute and enduring as the book suggests.

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

OhMyGosh, I was looking for the depression post and clicked on her "cancer" article in the sidebar.

A quote:
B-17 is almost outlawed in the U.S. The reason given most often, is because the cyanide in it is "poisonous". As you're about to see, that is a farce. The cyanide in B-17 is harmless, and a very needed nutrient for our bodies.

She then goes on to recommend "The Little Cyanide Cookbook". No wonder the FBI is stalking her, LOL! What next, Castor Beans for Health?

The enzyme needed to unlock the cyanide IS present in the human body, as well as food.

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

That Mary Ann Collins is an active Dominican sister. You can't possibly be implying that she is the same one Candy is talking about

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

I came across that Mary Ann Collins in my google searches too. I don't know if it the same, or a different one.

Candy's M.A.C. would be in her late fifties/early sixties, since she was an adult/college student back when the Mass was in Latin and there was no RCIA (pre-1972). The Dominican MAC looks about that age.

But, I'm not going to be downloading her podcasts, so if someone else listens to them, let me know.

Anonymous said...

changing4him is spamming all the Candy related blogs with this link in order to prove that *gasp* there is a Catholic nun named Mary Ann Collins.

She's going to feel pretty stupid when she realizes that this woman is STILL a nun, and that is a Catholic site, so it is clearly not the same Mary Ann Collins.

Milehimama @ Mama Says said...

Although it is in the realm of possibility that Candy's MAC used the name of a real nun in order to lend credibility to her story.

There's, like, five different Mary Ann Collin's on just the first google page. I think it's just the Jennifer Smith of that generation. Plus, it just sounds Catholic, if you're looking for a Catholic-sounding pen name.

That M.A.C. preaches and Candy supposedly doesn't believe in women preaching, however, I think Candy likes the idea considering she attends a Foursquare Church which was founded by a woman.

The movie "Heavenly Creatures" is about a very famous case of folie-a-deux - the Parker-Hulme murder case in Christchurch, New Zealand in the 1950s. I wrote a research paper about the media coverage of this case when I was in Journalism school. Some of the aspects of the girls' relationship are strikingly similar to that of Candy and Erik. Sadly, I think Anne-Marie could be correct in her theory.

Katie, I actually have a male friend, who is a very shy, godly Christian man (not too bad looking, either) and I have been trying to find that man a Christian wife... Seriously. If you're interested, then leave me your email in a private comment, and I'll tell you how to contact him online.

Meanwhile, may I suggest a wonderful book that is exactly on this topic? It's called "Fascinating Girlhood." It's a wonderful read - I think you'd really like it.
Candy

FYI, that book she suggests is written by a Mormon! I guess it's okay--at least she's not Catholic! I mean, even Mormon advice has to be better than, "Run off at 17, marry a creepy guy 15 years older than you, and live a miserable life in a spider-infested trailer."

Also, if I needed a husband, Candy would be the last person...no, wait, maybe not the last...no, she'd be the LAST person I'd ask. My MIL has been married to 5 different losers and I'd ask her before Candy.

The majority of today's comments crack me up. Amanda (not "our" Amanda) went off on some tirade about no one having biblical arguments for anything they said. Um, Amanda dear, not everyone lives and dies by the bible and the bible alone. That is your world, not mine. The same Amanda had a bit of a fit on her blog about commenting guidelines and such - I guess all the attention Candy gets makes them feel as if they're getting some attention too.

These people are so blind, and narrow minded, and freaking stubborn! It's not just Candy; too many of her minions are the same way. The ones who ask her questions scare the crap out of me - why go to some person on the Internet with real questions? Are all of their lives so small and narrow that they have no idea that there is a whole world out there with information and resources and answers? A whole Internet - and they don't even have to leave their own little homes.

I don't know about the bipolar thing, but I definitely guessed that Candy couldn't sleep because she was wound up over all the activity on her blog. She had to think on her feet to be on top of those comments the way she was and I don't think she fared very well. Instead of her usual ignoring dissent, she tried to react to it and it showed her inability to actually converse. Normally, she creates whole blog posts about things she "hears" from "kind" friends through email and she has time to plan out her actions and words. Last night, she didn't. I think she was in way over her head, and that's why she bailed and went to her meez party. There, she can ignore reality and praise god, or whatever it is they do over there. When it came time to go to bed, I'd bet good money that she was going over each of the comments, and her responses, in her head, rewriting them and doing the old "I shoulda' said..."

Working up to Zero said...

Yes, I let some nasty comments through yesterday, but you should have seen the ones that didn't make it through, they were REALLY bad.

So, they got to have their "voice" heard, and now I"m back to that good ole' delete key. And let me tell you - they are a nasty bunch, espcially the "loving" Catholics making threats to my person and family. I've NEVER seen such vial stuff.

God bless you sister.

Anonymous said...

I always think that when folks get SO defensive about an issue, its because they are being faced with some truth that they just can't handle. It reminds me of public school...where you can talk about/write papers about/pray to/wear t-shirts with pictures of the god of your choice...as long as it's not the ONE TRUE GOD, JESUS CHRIST. What are they afraid of?? Well, we know, don't we.

Sorry, ya'll. I've been reading her comments and I just have to say this rather than mumble it.

What this Kim just said? She could say it straight to Candy. Why is Candy so obsessed with Catholics and their beliefs? Is it because the Catholic faith is a threat to her and her carfully constructed world? Why is she so adamant that Catholics are wrong (and everyone else, for that matter)? If she were so confident in her own beliefs she wouldn't need to tear down the beliefs of others.

As for Kim's public school comment, she obviously doesn't get what public schools are about. They are for the PUBLIC, all of the public, without regard to race, religion or anything else. They exist so that every child has access to an education. If you start bringing Jesus into the classroom, you have to bring every other religious belief with Him. This is a country that makes no distinction between religion and does not put one belief system higher than another. If you want Jesus and the bible in your child's education, either you provide that with the help of the church, or send your child to a religious based school. I do not want my children reading the bible in school any more than you, Kim, want your children learning about evolution, or the age of the earth, or...whatever.

I get so angry at people who want the PUBLIC to conform to and for their own personal views. The Bill of Rights, for every citizen of this country, says the same thing:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

That means that the government will not establish a "government" religion...by putting Jesus & the bible in public schools, wouldn't be establishing Christianity as the "government" religion? The US Constitution guarantees that you can worship when, where and how you want, but you cannot force the public to do what you do and the government will not get involved.

Man. Can anyone tell one of my biggest irritants ever?!!!

Anonymous said...

zero, no I didn't see that comment but it's the same ole', same ole'. Making things up (she has yet to confirm who threatened her person or her family, when the threats were made or where. She just tells her minions they were in comments she didn't post and they believe her. Oh yeah...).

She argued with no one. She played games. And, as I am one of the people who commented I can tell you, she didn't put an end to it - we did. She didn't post my last three comments to her. Why? They called her out and exposed her own foolishness. She only posted the ones she thought she could manipulate.

And, I'm not even Catholic, so lumping all the commenters into the group of Catholics is more than just a tad bit indicative of her obsession with Catholics as the devil incarnate; no one else would behave in such a manner other than those horrible Catholics.

Clearly, anyone who disagrees is threatening to her. I have never threatened her or her family, and I find it difficult to believe that anyone has. But those claims sure do generate sympathy.

So, here's a question....feeding her paranoia: appropriate or dangerous?

So if Candy is going to others blogs and leaving these kinds of comments like she did on that Amanda's, that it is fair to say she is gossiping? Last time I checked that was a sin, but how can that be? Candy is so perfect:)

I believe Candy's problem isn't with the Catholics, it's with her in-laws. I think she feels she has something to prove to them. I think she struggles for attention/acknowledgment and possibly acceptance from them, that is why she does the Catholic bashing. She doesn't have anything to prove on her side of the family because she has the perfect religion now (her family wasn't religious considering she grew up with no religious upbringing), a fit body (the women in her family are fat), and perfect marriage to wonderhubby (her parents divorced).

ohgal, I think you're onto something there. It makes miles of sense, especially considering how she went off on the person she thought was an in-law.

anne-marie, my husband is finally feeling like a human again, thank you for asking. Kidney stones are murder, on everyone. His was too big to pass and too solid to blast, so it was cut out. Just today we went and he got the stint removed and he feels almost normal again for the first time in two weeks! Too much info, I know, but really, there is nothing worse than a man in pain, for the man, and everyone else who has to live with him! And, there is nothing worse, or more frustrating, for me than to have to sit around in day surgery three times in 15 days waiting for one procedure or another! (Referring to the former-Catholics she knows:)
They left mostly due to the relationship the catholic church has with the mafia. Some people believe if they make a huge donation to the church that will forgive them of the knockoff they did.

I believe this one was left by "Anne T". Is she SERIOUS!? I choked on my heathen wine (nope, it's not NA....after all, I'm a Catholic whore). Of all the reasons I have heard of for leaving the Catholic church, not once have I heard the mafia. I'm sure the mafia is still alive and well, but has it really been a prominent factor in society since, like, the 30s?

And even if we DO pretend that the mafia is still socially relevant, am I really to believe that Vinny the Mobster cares enough about his soul to pay off the church?

Amanda, that is what tipped me off -- I wanted to read the comment you posted earlier (which turned out to be from Lita), and I read her first post.

I know people who bike road races, and I know marathoners. I didn't even do 8 hours of weight lifting as a competitive swimmer -- at my peak, I swam 15 hours a week and weight trained for 4.5 hours.

It just isn't possible for the human body to do that kind of stressful exercise.

I'm just wondering, how quickly can you work on your abs after having a baby? I just had my 4th 3 months ago and haven't officially excercised regularly for 5 years (when I did pilates). I've heard you have to be careful with your abs after a baby - is that true?

Um, go ask your DOCTOR, not some woman on the Internet who claims to know everything there is to know about everything. These people cannot be serious, they just can't. It's not possible to be that mindless and ignorant, is it? Someone, please, tell me it isn't possible before I lose all faith in humanity.

I never saw the mafia comment, but the mafia actually was still pretty big business until the mid to late 60's. And, the fact is, the main five "families" still exist and operate much as they did in the past, just more quietly and they limit most of their activities to New York and the East Coast. Just Google "Bonanno family" or "Gambino" or "Gotti"...and you'll get a whole lot more information than you probably ever wanted. Many of the mafia families WERE strict Catholics, in theory at least - not, obviously, in practice. Their families, traditional and mafia related, were heavily tied to the church. Not through any of the church's doing though. I'm no mafia expert, but not too long ago I read a book about the "end of the mafia" or something like that. It was enlightening and to think that the mafia is a thing of the past is a mistake. It is not, however, as big or powerful as it was and it is generally not any kind of threat to anyone outside their radar.

BUT, the connection between the mafia and the Catholic church had absolutely nothing to do with the church or any actions of the church. Traditionally, the mafia came from Italy, which is a strongly Catholic nation as we all know. They brought their traditions, all of them, with them when they came here. The wives & children of most mafia men were strongly connected to the church and many second son's became Priest's. The mafia saw themselves as royalty, and just as royal families did in the past, 1st sons became the new leader upon the father's death and the 2nd son went into the Church.

The church, however, really has no control over how people "use" it so making those "connections" are just ways for Candy's anti-catholic fans to egg her on and do what they do best - spread misinformation.

OK, so I've figured out the pattern now. Candy publishes an entry that is sure to get some hot comments. She lets a few of these comments through. Then she refutes them with her rock-solid, air-tight "evidence" in a comment. Next she refuses any comments against her. This makes it appear that she shut up anyone who defied her with her undoubtable truths. A minion made a comment about her shutting up the negative comments by her brilliant refutation of their claims. And so the world of Candy turns...

I guess that what's I just don't understand about the Followers of the Church of Candy. Does it honestly not cross their minds that she thoroughly screens her comments for her own benefit?

I love that she said on the other woman's blog that the comments she didn't let through here "really vial" (I'm not even going to touch the spelling). I know nothing I said was vile (or vial), except that I dared to challenge her authority. (Though I do think I may have called her a pompus moron.) And given that we know who Sol was, I find it hard to believe that she said anything even close to vile, and I'm positive that she did not threaten Candy and her family.

Since Candy believes it is her God-given task to lead all of the many lazy, fat, NIV-reading heathens of the world to redemption (which is only available in her exercise marathon, dress-wearing, KJV 1611 onlyism world, I had a thought.

Maybe she should consider that it is *OUR* God-given mandate to remove the wool from the eyes of her readers who hang on her every word and believe everything she says is law. I mean, if Candy SAYS that Mary Ann Collins is real then she must be real, right? No proof, no evidence required. Just the word of a Meez-obsessed, spider growing trailer park housewife sitting at the computer in her house shoes.

What gets me everytime she spouts off a Bible verse is that when I read it, I feel like it applies perfectly to her and her actions! I think what she is doing is referred to as "projecting", right?

Hey, Candy, I know you read here. I have been studying a lot about the end times and as I read I see more and more that you are like the evil ones that the Bible warns believers against. You've read it: the ones who pull the wool over the sheeps' eyes and tell them lies. Personally when I read such verses, I think they have your name written all over them. You are one of many who are leading people astray.

"Sweetie"!

yvonne- you are exactly right. Interesting strategy, I must say, and she has gotten her faithful following buying it hook, line and sinker. It makes me laugh.

Now, come on, everybody, fess up now. Come forward if you have threatened Candy and/or her family. We all know it really happened because Candy is a Christian and would never ever lie. :)

I was watching a rerun of Oprah the other day, and there were two families. At a baseball game, one of the sons hit the other family's son with a baseball bat in front of the snack shack because he was being bullied. The kid that was hit was a big boy (5'10") and weighed about 170 pounds, and the kid that hit him was 5'1" and 75 pounds. The tragedy was that the kid that was hit died. The boy that hit him, who was I think 13, is going to be held (can't remember what kind of facility) for years. Anyway, the kid that died was a total bully, and even though I don't believe he deserved to die for it, his parents sat there and were in complete denial. His dad called him a "class clown," and said he was just teasing. He would not admit that the other boy could have felt like he was in danger, and kept saying over and over that his boy was just playing around. It reminded me so much of Candy and how she refuses to see how she treats people. When she outright lies about things she says and what her intentions were (they are always a mystery because she just keeps repeating that none of us know her intentions when she says anything- she is just always so misunderstood, poor thing), I picture her little meez sitting in her little rocking chair, smug smile, hands folded, just shaking her head back and forth at the stupidity of "us Catholics." (BTW, does SHE even read the comments? A large number of her negative commenters the other day said right up front that they were not Catholic.) And her friend Amanda- man, that girl is just plain confused.

Angie- you're correct about Amanda (Much Forgiven). I've been reading her blog for a while and she changes her mind with the seasons.

I got cranky about all the 'protesting too much' posts that Tia talked about, the ones that decided all the people angry about the Mary posts were just showing by their anger that they couldn't face the Truth. I sent in a post, but it isn't posted yet. But in fairness, I guess I have to say here that I am also bothered by making mental health diagnoses on the basis of blog posts. (unless it's screamingly obvious, but I don't see it)

I've been reading Amanda's blog for a while and she is pretty "out there", too.

Hey Candy, here's where I read about you in my KJV Bible (I thought I'd better use that version so you'd be able to read this):

Matthew 7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Jeremiah 50:6 My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

In all seriousness, leading people astray puts their blood on her hands. That is not something *I* would want to have on my plate.

So, Candy it's a game you think, but it can be a serious game.

Ooops, was that a threat? Uh-oh.

It's like Candy thinks if she says often enough, "I'm not mean, I say this out of LOVE" that it makes it true. It's like beating someone over the head with a brick and proclaiming, "I do this in LOVE, damn it! Why don't you BELIEVE ME!?"

You know what would be funny, though? A Jehovah's Witness coming to her house. Can you imagine the argument that would ensue?

Yvonne, you better be careful, or she's gonna send the FBI after you...

Thanks, Amanda. I'd better bridle my tongue and reign it in. I know the Feds are just sitting at their desks waiting on Candy's call to come talk to me.

Oh, I wanted to tell Amanda (the Catholic one LOL) that I was reading your blog the other night, and you had me giggling. Your observations about things are so cute, and you are very real. I love that.
